First Time: Tripping with a group of friends?

Hiya my pony was thinking about trying LSD for the first time however she she is still curious about what goes on.

When you are amongst friends is it easy in interract with them and have normal conversations or does this all depend on the dosage?

My pony would only take it with some of her close friends but was wondering if it is a social drug or very isolating?

Re: LSD experiences

Well dizzy it all depends how much your willing to open your heart and mind during the trip, and how comfortable that makes your friends feel, if they are in an open mindset then they'll feel comfortable talking about the experience they're currently having. if they're not then and they are confused with what's happening to them they probably don't want to talk much about whats going on. In regards to normal everyday conversation(not epiphanies on how to live life) it pretty much happens with the same as everyday life just a little more smiley and giggly.

SWIM says:

If SWIY takes a decent amount they will indeed catch themselves suppressing the urge to explain the intricacies of the universe to a befuddled group of sober friends, which can obviously make one a bit neurotic and paranoid to say the least. In such a state most people become worried that every word they say is coming off as crazy and they end up caught up in a loop of self-doubt and paranoia for hours on end. If they are already neurotic, paranoid or have any other social anxiety problems or similar then it will definitely exacerbate them.

The few times that I have tripped around a group of sober people, close friends or not, I ended up in a state closely resembling psychosis by the end of the night. Tongue-tied and a brain full of chaos. Nothing that a good night's sleep and a few days' reflection couldn't cure, but nevertheless not an ideal first experience.

Re: LSD experiences

Thanks for your reply Songcycle.

So swiy would advise not to take it around a group of people who are sober.

However what if one were to take it with people who are also on a trip would swiy say that it is a good experience as you are both under the same influence? And feeling the same euphoric/insightfulness.

SWIM says:

'tis a bit better if they are tripping, but expect some awkward interactions. Acid makes one extremely unaware of social cues that would normally be taken for granted in waking consciousness, such cues are missed by acid users and often times they spend the entire trip worrying that they may be saying or doing the wrong thing in a given situation and when you have a room full of people doing that you're going to end up with some strangeness.

The good thing about being around people in a similar mindstate, though, is that one can always look around and remember "okay we're all on this drug...they have a pretty good idea of what i'm going through and i have an idea of what they're going through" and that usually takes the edge off of the experience.

At least then SWIY won't be worrying the entire time if the group thinks they're crazy because of the things they're talking about. There's also a phenomenon called the "group mind," which is too hard to describe to someone who hasn't really experienced it, but it's a very very nice feeling of unity and oneness that would definitely increase the odds of a good trip.

There's really no way to get around the awkwardness, unfortunately, but tripping with friends is usually the best way for most. The first time shouldn't present too many obstacles if it's well-planned as they'll probably be too in awe of the experience to care about social behavior.

Indeed, most LSD users have their first experience among friends who are also dosed. It's especially nice if one or two of the people is experienced.

Re: LSD experiences

Oh very good!

Thank you for that. My ponys boyfriend took it when he was only young and really enjoyed it so if my pony were to do it it would be with him and they're very close so I think the awkwardness wouldn't be too much of a problem =)

Thank you again for that, I can kind of understand where you are coming from with the "group mind", I can only imagine that it would be a comforting feeling

No question about it, in SWIM's mind this is an ideal situation. He's never embraced the "sitter" concept; just seems too weird to have someone staring at you and trying to relate to you for 16 hours while they're completely dead sober. It's nice to know that the other person is also being entertained and that they can not only help out with but also relate to any trouble one may have.

He wishes SWIY pleasant dreams!
