Re: focalin xr

Focalin xr is an anti psycotic drug used alot with adhd children, when they take it , the drug tends to "chill" them out a bit, but if an adult takes it the drug can have the opposite effect on them kinda like "speed'

Thats about all I have to offer you. Hope Ive helped

Re: focalin xr

You clearly didn't search the rules or the stimulants forums.

Do you really have no idea what would make someone steal drugs?

Have you considered asking them?

It is NOT an antipsychotic. Jesus are you just pulling this out of your ass. It's a bloody stimulant.

Re: focalin xr

He's gettin high! Or maybe he could like focusing alot, or want to treat his ADD, ya never know. You should probably talk to him about it, I mean they're your drugs... Or if you could hide them better. Focalin is the dextro isomer of methylphenidate(ritalin.) It causes a feeling of well being in certain individuals to the likes of cocaine, not identical, but pretty damn close. Or if hes trying to lose weight he might take them for the hunger reduction caused by stimulants. Its not the most harmful thing in the world so if he isn't taking a whole bunch from you then hes just being a dumb kid.

NO swim didnt pull this out of swims ass. Swim Does however stand corrected. Swims son takes this med for adhd along with some others. Swim only was remembering what pediatrician said(Mustve confused one with another). I apologize. I hope I didnt mess anyone up too bad especially Lysiebeth.

Swim found this on focalin xr
"Focalin XR(Dexmethylphenidate)is a prescription medication that is used for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
Focalin XR capsules are specially designed to release half of the medication immediately, and to release the second half of the medication after approximately four hours. As a result, the medication can be taken just once a day.

Because Focalin XR is a stimulant and is commonly abused, there are special rules for prescribing it"

Asking your lil bro why hes taking it is the best way to find out exactly why he would be taking it from you Lynsiebeth. Were you able to talk to him?? I hope you have found out why and I hope hes behaving a lil better now. Best wishes to you. Let us know how things are going

Re: focalin xr

Sorry, it's been a REAL long time since nobody's had to explain this. You're assumption isn't uncommon since it seems wrong to treat hyperactivity with stimulants.

ADD is the result of low dopamine levels, which leads to inability to concentrate and an ease of distraction, by stimulating the production of dopamine, the drug brings the chemicals up to the "normal" levels.

On a linguistic, external, level, you're right, it does calm patients down. But on a chemical/neurological level, it's mode of action is VERY different from other drugs that do such things.

Nobody feels ADD is the result of an evolutionary holdover of multi-tasking, from hunter gatherer days, that fils in the subdued modern classroom, and has a hard time seeing it as an "illness" or "malfunction", and the implications of it being a psychosis hit them the wrong way. Having been a life long learning disabled student, getting mud slung tends to form some reactionary sub-routines.

As for it's effects on the OP, don't worry, she has a whole other set of issues she's not doing much of job handling, technical discussion isn't going to matter.

God, tell your parents and have him smacked around with a belt...
