Cultivation - Germination of E. nova.

Swim has success in germination of seeds in soil and not damp moss in a bag.

Out of 8 seeds 5 have germinated so far. Swim planted them 3/4 inches deep in a very well draining soil mix and kept just barely moist allowing the top 1/2 inch dry between mistings. A heat pad was used to keep the soil temp. betweem 68 - 72 degrees F.

It has taken 4 weeks using this method so far. Swim expects to see the rest of the seeds germinate within the next week or two.

SWim decided to use this method because there would be little if any disturbing of the young roots and seedlings during this critical period of development.
