USA - 5 friends in a car with marijuana, police arrrival, not a simple situation

SWIM is in serious need of some help or tips in what direction to take this,

SWIM was with a car full of friends, rolling a blunt, swim had just been kicked out of his residence and by random chance had all of his belongings in the trunk in his suitcases,

one friend had paraphernalia, another his personal stash, another was rolling the blunt, the driver however is a good friend who is on probation, and has been completely clean during his probation,

swim being the paronoid guy that swim is was prepared (and lucky) enough to be out of the car when the cops rolled up, swim had over an ounce and a bubb in his pocket, the police drove to the car paying no attention to swim nearby with swims girlfriend, swim hid the herb and peice, and walked casually by, watching as all swims friends get busted and somehow sneaked by without gaining attention,

heres the problem, the suitcase with swims belongings had prescription bottles of seroquel and lorazepam in his name PLUS a United states ID, swims PASSPORT! and unfortunately swim had about 11 grams as well in the suitcase. now it wasnt just swims weed they got busted for, they were all taking part and had there own as well.

swim got a phone call and wasnt smart enough to ignore it, it was a police officer, asking if it was my marijuana, swim said it wasnt his knowing this is a repeated offense for himself and if he plead guilty to an officer it could be bad, so he said no, but they issued tickets to everyone including my friend on probation,

now my question is, if swim admitted guilt for the substance would by friend on probation get away with this, BUT isnt associating with it while on probation still a violation of probation. the police convinced my friend that if swim came to them he wouldnt be in trouble, swim wants to know if thats up to them because either way its a violation, and swim feels they just want to reel him in to catch more stoners,

and second, can the police find and or charge swim with possesion for having it in my suitcase with my belongings, even though swim was not present and did not admit guilt,

can swim help my friend or is he in trouble regardless, should he just watch his own back and deny any involvement. can they find him or anything? they saw swims cell phone number and passport. will they pursue it? hes worried.
