Side effects - Cannabis in combination with common cold?

SWIM is currently going through a bad cold and is wondering if smoking cannabis to pass the time easier and get more rest would be detrimental to my recovery.

Well, I'm annoyed because it started on the first day of my week long holiday.

SWIM has heard that cannabis weakens the immune system. With this in mind, smoking will probably prolong the time SWIY has a cold.

SWIM has had a mild cold for the past month now. SWIM used to never really have a problem with colds until he started smoking cannabis, so it's a safe bet that marijuana weakens the immune system. SWIM hasn't smoked in about 4 days, and he's getting over his cold now. Could be coincidence, but SWIM doesn't think so.

If SWIY wants to get over his cold faster, he probably shouldn't smoke for a few days

swim has also heard of the weakened immune system effect. swim is a daily cannabis user and smoked regardless of a cold. he hasnt seen much of a diffrence in recovery time.

well i guess its better to have a few days off every so often so if your felling sick its prolly a good idea

its still only a frickin cold tho , like the most minor sickness know to man : )

i know someone who loves to smoke when they are sick, because they say that they feel so much more fucked up. not sure. they say it feels awesome to take a hot shower, smoke, then lay in a bunch of blankets and watch cartoons all day when sick.

If it was a respiratory infection or something similar, I would say lay off on the smoking.

SWIM always smokes when he's sick though.

swim agrees with smoking up when you have the cold...especially if u have a day where ur sick and u dont have 2 werk then swim just blazes all day laying in bed gettin better nothing beats it..well obviously except not being sick lol

Not sure this is totally on-topic, but whenever SWIM is really sick, he always gets disgusted by the thought of smoking anything, and then once he's getting better a few days later, he smokes some weed and he always regrets not doing it earlier.

This has not been proven, it was speculated in the early 1980's but no strong correlation has been found.

This does not prove anything. One individual's experience is a small piece of anecdotal evidence, but many factors are playing in that are not being taken into account. Large scale empirical studies of humans en masse have been done and have no backed up this claim. [/quote]

Some people find smoking marijuana enjoyable in the event of an illness as such, as it helps distract them from otherwise feeling shitty. Other people find smoking marijuana not enjoyable, since it can enhance feelings of lethargy.

Well, notice how I said that SWIM says he always smokes when he's getting better and regrets not doing it earlier. He's still pretty new to this and hasn't tried smoking while at the peak of sickness, but he thinks he might like it if he tries.

The point remains - some people enjoy smoking while they are ill, others do not.
