Combinations - nicotine potentiates amphetamine high

SWIM used to wonder why when he would do 40-50 mg of adderall he would feel good for maybe 30 minutes and then the euphoria would go away, followed a few hours later by a horrid crash and hangover.

He figured out through experience that smoking some cigarettes or consuming nicotine in any way after taking the addy, that the amphetamine high lasts hours as opposed to minutes, with a very slow and easy comedown.

He then researched a bit on nicotine itself, and found out that it blocks the neurological pathways that the brain uses to "counteract" sudden changes in dopamine levels, and thinks that this mechanism is what kills the amphetamine high, and when nicotine is consumed with the amphetamine,this mechanism is blocked and therefore the amphetamine high stays for much longer periods of time.

SWIM thinks that this could work with other drugs too. If this is true that would mean that tobacco/nicotine is in fact the real "gateway" drug.
