Exact "dangers" of tobacco

Ive been smoking for around 4-5 years , around a pack a week, but just recently quit , its been 3 months now. I have an active and random lifestyle, sports, to laziness, to more sports... random years and times in my life.

I assume i am healthy, no problems.

What i DONT understand is, how is it that people literally smoke 1 or more packs a day for YEARS and then quit or continue smoking and theyr fine? as in no MAJOR problems, it baffles my mind.

I keep seeing and hearing horror stories, pictures of dying organs, cancer galore.

I mean wont you develop cancer or some sort of desiease after just a couple of packs? Isnt that what we're taught?

It feels like i should go back to smoking cuz from what i see its not as bad as its made out to be. OR IS IT?

still baffled!!

Some people are more susceptable than others...

It has to do with overall lifestyle

Re: Exact "dangers" of tobacco

SWIM's grandma is extremely resilient to tobacco. She's the kind of person that literally never doens't smoke. She'll just leave a cigarette in her mouth and never take it out and just passively inhales smoke while she breathes. She's been smoking for about 7 decades and started around when she was 10 years old. And she doesn't even have that bad of a cough, and is actually pretty active compared to other people her age. SWIM's himself can't handle tobacco at all. He can smoke half a cigarette and will have trouble breathing for the next few days. He'll feel this really strange sensation in his chest, and it just feels really tight and painful.
