Side effects - MDMA long term after effects on libido

Swim has used MDMA moderately so far in his lifetime. Overall about 30-40 times, and nearly always MDMA crystals. So far swim thinks that it has caused no long lasting side effects, but the one thing swim has noticed is that his libido seems to have decreased quite considerably since he used it frequently.

It could be other factors that has effected swim, so he doesn't want to blambe MDMA entirely, but he would like to see if anyone else has experienced this. Its like a very acute Anhedonia. Swim knows that some people report this after using SSRI's which also regulate serotonin levels.

Has anyone else found this?

Yes Swim has also experiences this, however on a much smaller scale. He wouldn't compare it to anhedonia but more like a loss of novelty. SWIM is guessing it's just the mind naturally adapts to a new experience. A song sounds amazing the first time, and several times after its ok. However if one waits a while and listens to the song again after a while of waiting, it sounds amazing again.

Every time after taking mdma, for a couple of days everything does seem duller, just like he's been thrown out of heaven. Which can be compared to ecstasy.

SWIM has heard similar experiences regarding MDMA.

Personally, SWIM only notices sexually side effects while he is on MDMA. While rolling he is usually not able to have sex due to lack of focus. But the day after rolling he has always gone completely back to normal in that regard. Sometimes it feels even better.

Shrivels squirrells member whilst on it, and he also experienced a decreased sex drive over time after using it a lot. Once use stopped/became much less frequent, sex drive came back...

Someone who isn't me found that after he had a major binging phase of doing MDMA twice every weekend for about a month (before he was responsible about his use) it had a very long last effect on him. In this period he did way too high amounts (he must have done about 4 grams in a month or something ridiculous) and from previously being a person who would satisfy himself sexually once every day he was barely up for it twice a week, and this lasted for about three months. He says he's nearly back to normal now, but still probably fancies it about half what he used to.

I suppose the fact that swim was in his early 20's at the time and is over a year older now might have had something to do with it. And the fact that his old girlfriend was way hotter than his recent one (I really hope she doesn't know I post here. lol)

Who knows. The three months where he just didn't fancy it at all were dreadful though. Never doing that again, for sure.

Just thought of something else that may have effected swim other than the MDMA. Do people find that smoking cannabis increases libido? Because before this MDMA binge swim had just stopped smoking cannabis from being a daily stoner for about six to seven years. People think this is more likely the cause than the MDMA?

Just remember that correlation does not equal causation. Just because you've taken ecstasy throughout your life, it does not mean it is causing your lack of libido. Chances are there is an alternative explanation. It could be a psychological problem and not a physical problem in the brain. If you think that it could be psychological, swim would recommend seeing a therapist. If you are not embarrassed by talking to a professional about your problem, you could gain insight into the problem and potentially fix it.

That I totally appreciate. Which is why I started this thread to see how many other people (if any) had experienced this. If not many turn out to have had similar experiences then it probably is something else.

swim has noticed decreased libido as a short term effect after taking mdma. swim has definatly not noticed decreased libido as a long term effect.

Swim seems to get more "desire" after a weekend of pure joy.. Interesting, he normally hounds his GF after a weekend of fun

The original question in this thread is exactly what swim was looking for. swim used to take lots of ecstasy during his teens and had a long relationship around that time. its been 4 or 5 years since that relationship ended with no others really in between and now in another relationship the libido is literally non existent. swim stumbled across the wiki page about ssri syndrome and sounds like it could be linked.

swim doesnt know if it is lack of interest in particular girl, effects of drug abuse, or just stuck in ways after so many years of singledom/self pleasuring.

Swim would be very grateful of some advice on this from anyone who has experienced the same issues.
