Mortality statistics: Drugs, sports, and accidents compared.

I often hear people say things like “taking drugs are an unacceptable health risk”. Putting aside the fact that what we choose to do with our lives is our own business, I thought I would compile some statistics for other “risky” things which people who make statements like the aforementioned would nevertheless condone, just to point our their hypocracy.

The percentages given are the percentages of the total population of people who perform a given activity who die each year as a result of that activity. After the percentage comes the total deaths per 100,000 people. For general activities that cause death, like choaking, the number of deaths per year is divided by the whole population of the specified country x 100. The source is written below the statistics.

People's input would be greatly appreciated, and i will edit in any information, examples and sources people find and update the list myself. Thanks in advance. I especially need to find some statistics regarding drug user amounts and deaths in the USA- I can't seem to find any...

Well I think it's obvious what this means, everyone should immediately discontinue the unacceptably dangerous activity of swallowing. They always say it will never happen to them, but you could be one of the 0.987 victims in the US that die every year! Disgraceful...
