Ether from Starter Fluid (Huffing Volatile Solvents)
have any of you people out there ever bought then huffed ether?? Im talking about buying car starter fluid with ether in it, and filling half a plastic container with it. Then filling the rest of the container with water, then shake it. use a "turkey baser??" to get the purer ether out. put it in a cloth a HUFF like hil Duff. Anyone done this?? and what are your reactions?? I LOVE IT....(despite health risks)hey we only live once!

We may only live once... but why not live LONG once? Huffing "washed" starter fluid is terrible, why not just huff gasoline? Heptanes are nasty things... I'd try find some real ether if you need to use it. It's not that hard to find if you know where to look. |

Shake half water half starting fluid for a few minutes and pour this into a ziploc bag and let it seperate.
Now cut a small hole in ther corner and drain off the bottom layer of cloudy water(this contains the heptane), have a container ready for the top layer which is diethyl-ether. Now repeat this process at least one more time or until the water stays clear. You now have reasonably clean ether, and it still sucks IMHO. I've tried it once just got extremely light headed, not worth the smell. |

yeah...that "we may only live once" was sarcastic. i really don't think doing this is worth it either. i get a good high off it but the taste in my mouth that stays for the next 6 hours isnt worth it despite the health risk. its just a cheap high

Buy ether. It definately works with starter fluid but if youre not quite fit in chemistry you can do wrong a lot ... I always buy it. Check internet sites. Usually you have to send them a copy of your ID, sign a document and tell them the reason you need it (extraction of orangeoil or whatever), at least over here. If youre over 18 not much of a problem to get it. Pharmacies might sell it to you too ...

IMO Ether is one of those things you should try to satisfy your curiosity, but don't go too much beyond that. Sure it has been used as an anaesthetic for a long time, but the doctor doesn't exactly cover your mouth with an ether soaked rag and then make you try to walk around or anything... A definate experience is using ether while your peaking on mushrooms. I'VE HEARD it's phenominal. |

Ether is the about the lowest you can go...Abusing a chemical used to CUT real drugs is, to say the least, idiotic. Who likes cut drugs, much less a cutting agent? Edited by: PurEuph0ria

I'm not sure how it works with meth, but with the culmination and refinementheroin and cocaine ether and/or acetone are required, and often times more ether is left in and dried to become part of it. Dealers can also use ether (not sure about acetone?) by adding it to crystalline substance (meth, cocaine) and it will dry with it yielding a higher quantity but lower quality product. There are MANY other things people can cut with, but ether is definately one of them.

If acetone or ether are dried, they have evaporated. </span>They are floating around in the air we breathe which is why it is better to use equipment that allows for their collection. </span>Either way they do not remain in the product. </span>Either you are leaving something out or I am misunderstanding. </span>I suppose that if you used a solvent that was dirty (contained stuff other than the solvent) then that stuff might well remain, but then it would be dirt/crud/sludge, not solvent, that was being used to cut the product. </span>More details please.</span> |

No, it doesn't "dry up" it sort of settles in with the substance. If either meth or cocaine completely dries up it's no longer any good, moist would be a better word.

Seriously you've mistaken the use of solvents to purify and clean with
"cutting" which usually means adding crap to increase bulk. Ether will not remain at room temp, it evaporates incredibly fast and there is nothign you can do to stop that. |

You can drink it, too. Once popular in Ireland:
http://www.ndc.hrb.ie/attached/731-0687604.pdf Don't be drinking that starting fluid crap unless you distill it first. |

Interesting article. </span>I’ve posted it below to make it easier to access. </span>I am, however, doubtful that drinking ether is a good idea. </span>I’d point to its classification as a poison, however, it could be pointed out that such may simply be anti drug propaganda. </span>Such is one of the problems with the so-called ‘war on drugs’ – it creates a situation where it is more difficult to know what information to trust. However, I would not</span> drink it. </span> </span> Historical Vignette </span></span> Ether Drinking in </span><st1:country-region><st1 lace>Ireland</span></st1 lace></st1:country-region></span></span> R</span>OBERT </span>A. S</span>TRICKLAND</span>, M.D.</span> The 150th anniversary of the first public demonstration of ether is </span><st1:date year="1996" day="16" month="10">Oct. 16, 1996</span></st1:date>. The introduction of ether for general anesthesia was a seminal event in the development of modem medicine and surgery. Without general anesthesia, little progress would have been possible in surgery beyond die rudimentary stages of the early 1840s. Many medical historians credit Dr. Crawford W. Long with the first surgical anesthetic procedure in March 1842.1 </span>While a medical student at the University of Pennsylvania during the 1830s, Dr. Long participated in “ether frolics” and knew firsthand the exhilarating effects of inhaled ether vapors. He continued this type of recreation after he began his medical practice in </span><st1:country-region><st1 lace>Georgia</span></st1 lace></st1:country-region>, and the insensibility oftenproduced was the basis for his first administration of ether for an operation.2 </span></span> Even though most medical historians know about the widespread practice of ether frolics, few are aware that ether at that time was also ingested orally for its intoxicating effects, especially in </span><st1:country-region><st1 lace>Ireland</span></st1 lace></st1:country-region>. Although details about thispractice are vague, apparently Father Mathew, a Roman Catholic priest, began advocating complete abstinence from alcoholic beverages in 1838.3-5 </span>According to one source, Father Mathew obtained more than 5 million abstinence pledges within 3 years in Ireland alone.4 </span>Consequently, during the early to mid-1840s, a physician in Draperstown, Londonderry County, began dispensing small portions of ether in water to those desiring a nonalcoholic libation. Thus, ether was used “as a liquor on which a man might get drunk with a clear conscience.”5 </span></span> During the 1840s, illegal distillation of alcoholic spirits became more difficult because of the desire of the British government to halt such activity. Thus, another possible reason for the origin of ether drinking was that “‘in a country whose people in the past have been notoriously addicted to illicit distilling, the impossibility of indulging in it now...has driven the people to ether as the best substitute for poteen.”5 </span>“Poteen” was the term used for whiskey prepared by illegal distillation. At that time, a nonmedical or “adulterated” type of ether was being prepared for industrial purposes. This variant was substantially less costly than medically pure ether because it was prepared from duty-free methylated spirits of wine; however, its taste and composition were virtually identical to those of the pure ether.5 </span></span> For whatever reason, ether drinking apparently became relatively common because in a short period, shops in many Irish towns were selling ether in a manner similar to taverns selling alcoholic beverages. According to a British government report, “some 100,000 Irish consume[d] 17,000 gallons of impure ether annually.”6 </span>All age-groups ingested ether, and its use was equal between male and female consumers. Neighborhood women, and even their young daughters, would have “ether bees,” and children could obtain ether for drinking purposes from local stores.4</span></span> Because ether is poorly soluble in water, it was routinely consumed “neat” or undiluted in a small glass. One authority1 </span>on this subject described its ingestion in terms of a play: </span> <st1 lace><st2:Sn>Scene</span></st2:Sn> </span><st2:Sn>I.</span></st2:Sn></st1 lace>—The mouth iswashed out with cold water. Scene II.—A draught of cold water is drunk. Scene III.—The ether is swallowed “neat.” Scene IV.—The performance closes with a second and final drink of cold water. </span> As proficiency in ether drinking developed, use of cold water could be eliminated. </span> The initial quantity of ether ingested by a beginner was usually 1 drachm or approximately 3.5 mL.4 </span>As tolerance increased, the amount ingested also increased; thus, “seasoned casks” might require “‘half a wineglassful.”4 </span>Hart5 </span>wrote that ‘‘the immediate effects of drinking ether are similar to those produced by alcohol, but everything takes place more rapidly; the stages of excitement, mental confusion, loss of muscular control, and loss of consciousness follow each other so quickly that they cannot be clearly separated from each other.5 </span>These effects dissipated almost as rapidly as they occurred, and few, if any, aftereffects such as nausea, headache, or hangover were noted. Because of these “advantages,” ether inebriates were often able to imbibe several times a day, and it was observed that “the etherist can have three thorough ‘drunks’ for one of the alcoholist.”4 </span></span> Adverse effects of ether drinking included profuse salivation, epigastric burning, and “rather violent eructations.”5 </span>In addition, several injuries and deaths were reported when ether drinkers were set on fire after being too close to open flames or when lighting a pipe.” Early during the history of ether, the route of elimination was thought to be the lungs because the absence of an ether odor in urine made the kidneys an unlikely route for elimination.3 </span></span> People in </span><st1:country-region><st1 lace>Scotland</span></st1 lace></st1:country-region>, </span><st1:country-region><st1 lace>Norway</span></st1 lace></st1:country-region>, and </span><st1:country-region><st1 lace>Russia</span></st1 lace></st1:country-region> also drankether. In </span><st1:country-region><st1 lace>France</span></st1 lace></st1:country-region>, ether wasusually drunk with cognac, whereas in the </span><st1:country-region><st1 lace>United States</span></st1 lace></st1:country-region>, the Finns,Swedes, and Poles in northern </span><st1:State><st1 lace>Michigan</span></st1 lace></st1:State> were reported todrink ether with whiskey. </span> Little has been written about the demise of ether drinking. In 1890, the British government classified ether as a poison; thus, sale of ether was severely limited because only “qualified chemists” or pharmacists could sell it.8 </span>Ether drinking in </span><st1:country-region><st1 lace>Ireland</span></st1 lace></st1:country-region> apparentlydeclined because of regulatory statutes and the focus of the medical community on such practice. </span> REFERENCES </span></span> 1. BigRed, in PurEuph0ria’s post above, that you are apparently agreeing with, he stated:</span> “I'm not sure how it works with meth, but with the culmination and refinementheroin and cocaine ether and/or acetone are required, and often times more ether is left in and dried to become part of it. I’d really appreciate your explaining how ether can be used to cut cocaine or meth – in other words to make them weigh more.</span></span></span> |

perhaps the coke is disolved in ether, a cutting agent like meth is added to the coke and ether, and when evapourated, the result is coke that weighs more (because of the added meth). thats my guess.. cuz good quality ether wont leave nuthin behind when properly evapourated. Edited by: elzz

That makes total sense, elzz. </span>Perhaps some have simply misunderstood “ether cut” to mean that the substance that the coke is cut with is ether, rather than that the ether is used to facilitate the adding/mixing of the cutting substance and no longer remains in the finished product due to having evaporated.</span> |

ya.. and cutting it that way, it would be hard to seperate the pure coke and the cutting agent since they probably have similar physical properties. im thinkin u could make some crazy stuff with cutting in this manner.. coke/meth/ketamine all in one rill. lol
