SWIM is a 75kg male, with opiate experience limited to codeine and kratom. He performed a cold water extraction (CWE) on 18 paramol tablets, each containing 7.46mg of Dihydrocodeine tartrate (DHC) and 500mg of paracetamol/acetaminophen, giving a total DHC dose of 134.28mg minus whatever was lost in the CWE (he considers his CWE to have been less succesful than usual, so the yield probably wasn't perfect). Before dosing, he hadn't eaten since breafast (a bowl of cereal) 6.5 hours earlier.

SWIM swallowed the bitter product of his CWE with concentrated fruit cordial at 2.05PM.

2.15PM - The first mild, pleasant effects are felt, though these are quickly grown accustomed to and soon appear insignificant.

2.25PM - SWIM leaves his house to go to a doctors appointment. He feels much more uncoordinated/drunken than with codeine; it is more obvious that he is "on something", although actual effects and feelings are minimal. A drug induced motivation is felt. It has been snowing recently and the ground is very icy, and SWIM finds it slightly more difficult to walk on than usual. SWIM is in a vague dreamlike state, and unusual noises (a car horn, the rasp of the automatic door to the doctor's surgery) seem to surprise him.

2.35PM - SWIM's doctor appointment is very brief, and talking seems easy and flows naturally, though the appointment was too brief to judge any real social effects. Social skills definitely aren't impeded.

2.40PM - SWIM leaves the doctors to return home, and a certain pleasure with movement is felt, unlike with codeine. This is still a very mild sensation though.

20.50PM - SWIM is back home. Writing and typing seems to flow, and happen very fast, like with codeine. More euphoria becomes apparent, especially when SWIM sits or stands still and concentrates on it. This seems to be the peak. The euphoria isn't as strong or as enjoyable as with SWIM's codeine experiences, and feels oddly "numb". It comes on in temporary waves. No real contentness is felt, which is one of the things SWIM enjoys most.

20.55PM - Some insignificant itches are felt at this point, though no other side effects are noted. Analgesia seems very strong.

3.00PM - SWIM feels a more permanent version of the numb euphoria, seemingly at the back of his head/brain.

3.10PM - SWIM feels a last "rush" of euphoria, after which most of the main effects subside immediately. After this point, SWIM barely feels the DHC at all, and though occasional, weaker, euphoria waves are felt after this point, and there is still some strangeness to SWIM's movements, effects are too weak to judge the point when all effects completely subside, however all effects seem completely gone by 4.30PM. No real after effects are noticed, except possible brain fuzziness, and a slight feeling of being "low" (SWIM wouldn't put these feelings down to the DHC with certainty).


In conclusion, SWIM was disapointed with his DHC experiment, and didn't see the effort put into the CWE as worth it. He will try again with larger doses, and better extractions. DHC was much more of a head high than codeine. SWIM has experimented with codeine doses from 150mg (a definite dosage as this was the only time he had access to pure codeine pills where no CWE was needed) to around 300mg, and SWIM personally can't see much merit in the idea that DHC doses are half of that for codeine with equivalent effects. SWIM had very little opiate tolerance; he had 268.8mg (minus whatever was lost in the CWE) of codeine exactly a week before, and no opiates were consumed for a couple of months prior to that.

SWIM had the opportunity to acquire some 60mg dihydrocodeine recently and I would recommend it to anyone in such a form.

As a 75Kg male with experience of PST and codeine (regular weekly use) SWIM has found a 60mg dose creates a medium opiate euphoria and a follow up dose leads to a lovely warm place. Sleep is a broken but beautiful experience and the next day come down is easy and gentle.

SWIM has recently found CWE of codeine to be lacking in effect and thinks we lose a lot more goodness in CWE than we think.

If you do get the opportunity to try pharma grade DHC SWIM throughly recommends but as always prescribes care and respect.

SWIM can't imagine feeling much from 60mg DHC, but then again 150mg of codeine did very little to him, without tolerance. SWIM will try a higher dose of DHC at some point and post a report (he has tablets ready to CWE), but he is unsure of the dose to go for. He posted a thread asking the limit that should not be exceeded for someone without tolerance, but no one replied . SWIM is currently considering 180mg, and if that isn't enjoyable he feels that anything higher would be too much, and he would end his DHC experiments (any dosage advice would be appreciated).

SWIM is currently waiting his supply of 30mg dihydrocodeine instant releases. He plans on dosing with 120mg dihydrocodeine & 20mg hydrocodone.

Swim used to get dihydrocodeine 30mg. He will explain the feelings later but the doses was 300mg... And sometimes a part of a combination..

SWIM seem to have a low tolerance to opiates (which is an absolute bonus) which may be due to weight and age (vintage). SWIM has always tried to get the most out of a little, what ever the substance.

Swim used to do a lot of dihydrocodeine, 30mg DF118s, usually in combination with other opiates as swim would have to take a large amount of it to hold him. If swim had nothing but dihydrocodeine, swim would have to take an absolute minimum of 360mg over a day to hold him, often this would increase to close to 600mg.
Swim usually took it to top up other opiates, if swim was wearing a fentanyl duragesic patch, swim would often pop 60mg of dihydrocodeine every 4 hours just for the hell of it, especially at work.
Swim prefers it in combination with other opiates, as swim finds that larges doses of dihydrocodeine alone give swim a headache & an unpleasant feeling.

SWIM has recently ingested a good amount of DHC as he is based in Asia.

To give you some background, SWIM used to be a heavy user of PST and MST cooked with AA. As he got a job in Asia a few years ago he went totally clean and now sticks to booze. At his peak he used ~60mg of MST in one dose daily.

A couple of years ago he went on a business trip to Cambodia. While there he purchsased a box of DHC at the pharmacy. Research on the interweb indicated that 240mg is a safe maximum dose in a non-tolerant individual so he took it and went out drinking. After a few beers he went to the hotel and nodded hard with a nice level of euphoria. He was a little worried about OD potential so stayed awake for a few hours and then went to sleep after he felt safer.

Last week he went back to Cambodia with memories of his beautiful nod last time. He bought another box of 60mg pills and took 3 of them. He was with his wife so took a smaller dose to avoid nodding too hard. These pills are extended release and it took around 60 minutes to start feeling the affects. He got a mild heaviness in the limbs and a mild itchy nose with a gentle euphoria. After another hour he took another 60mg but things did not get a lot better. A further pill an hour later didn't help either.

The next day he took a full 240mg dose with similar results to the paragraph above. SWIM suspects that the large dose of very pure #4 he had in Vietnam just before going to Cambodia pushed his tolerance up such that a dose around 300 - 360mg would be appropriate. This is a little unexpected as SWIM has been basically drug free for 3 years now, but that single dose of #4 seems to have pushed his tolerance up.

The experience lasted around 5 hours of comfortable feeling before reducing in intensity. Basically SWIM suggests that DHC is a great alternative to stronger opiates bit its efficacy seems to reduce rapidly after exposure to strong opiates.

150lbs, 5'10", opioid tolerance (probably moderate-low)

SWIM has two recent experiences with DHC on consecutive days. The first experience took place sat. Oct. 3rd 09'; swim had ingested roughly 1-1.5mg buprenorphine between the 26&27th of sept. 09', and IV 40mg nubain (nalbuphine) on 30 sept....I'm not sure if this effected SWIMs tolerance or not

The first experience consisted of SWIM & his friend @ his friends apartment in which a party was taking place. SWIM chewed 150mg, along with around 3 beers & 92.7mg phenobarbital, GFJ & a Joint. As the high reached its peak SWIM felt basically as if he had taken 30mg of hydrocodone in terms of euphoria but was lacking in the level of intensity hydrocodone provides. During the experience SWIM felt talkative and content & euphoric. The high lasted around 4-5 hours. Also he noticed too much stimuli (loud background noise) took away from the high.

The second experience with Dihydrocodeine SWIM was with his uncles (who do not approve of any drug use whatsoever, but ironically use marijuana, hydrocodone, valium, & possibly cocain themselves) cousins & a few other ppl & friends. While heading towards the cookout SWIM ingested 150mg after having had 2 alcoholic beverages (heard it's a CYP2D6 inducer)& some grapefruit. Shortly after the first dose of dihydrocodeine SWIM blew a J with his friend while driving to meeting up with every1 (irresponsible) which greatly intensified the high. Then 1.5 hours after the first dose ingested 60mg DHC & finally 4 hours l8r 90mg. As with the previous experience with DHC the night b4, the effects were roughly the same & it seemed that redosing after the initial dose 1.5 hours later increased the intensity of the peak while the last redose didn't seem as strong.

Overall SWIM had a great time with DHC and personally likes it despite it's lack of strength in comparison with hydrocodone & oxycodone. If they were only cheaper per dose (150mg+) SWIM would find himself stockpiling these easily obtainable opioids.

SWIM had an OC80 on hand and a little less than 3 grams of DHC in pill form.

T- 0:00 SWIM ingests 8 ounces 100% grapefruit Juice

0:20 SWIM drinks 1 16 ounce heneiken (cyp2d6 inducer SWIM heard)

0:30 SWIM rectally administers 120mg dihydrocodeine (note: rectal administration got SWIY way higher than orally [oral BA= 20%])

0:50 SWIM vaporizes some shitty marijuana, drinks 12 ounces of 100% GFJ & is feeling a light opiate high increasing in intensity with every minute.

1:15 SWIM ingests 55mg oxycodone (pure), vaporizes more marijuana & drinks a small glass of wine; feeling quite high already.

1:45 SWIM goes to the grocery store lifts a Grapefruit like a hobo, comes home & eats half. Now very high.

2:00 SWIM administers 90mg dihydrocodeine rectally.

2:30 SWIM is extremely high & is completely numb, no nausea is present; no cares in the world.

2:45 SWIM drives to friends house & starts nodding a little bit along the way, but his motor skills are not affected other than being sleepy.

2:50 SWIMs friend asks if he would like to watch syriana with her; he agrees.

3:45 SWIM is nodding too hard to pay attention so they smoke a bowl of homegrown together while listening to Nirvana on the deck. SWIM can't help but admire the beauty of nature & his appreciation for music is heightened.

4:00 SWIM is as high as he's ever been in his life on opiates & very much enjoys being in the prescence of someone he is attracted to & can easily converse with. SWIM is overcome by the urge to profess his feelings towards her & tells her how beautiful and open minded he thinks she is.

4:15 SWIM & his friend proceed to making out which then leads to the next dirtiest deed, upon which takes over an hour to bust a nut.

5:30 SWIM is amazed that he is still as high as he is & decides to go for the remainder of his GFJ which he has conviently stored in his scoldering hot car, mmmm.

5:35 SWIM comes back in lays down next to SWIMs friend and almost falls asleep, but was prevented from doing so thankfully.

5:45 SWIM and his friend part ways and SWIM picks a wine flavored black and mild double pack up along the way.

6:00 Upon pulling into the neighborhood SWIM gets the spins (something that has never happened while on opiates) and nearly vomits in his car.

6:10 SWIM arrives @ home and lays on his bed dopesick which quickly fades while watching Reno911.

The rest of the high was spent laying in bed, walking around the neighborhood, talking on the phone, & chilling on the roof @ nightfall smoking a black. The overall high lasted over 8 hours with a 2 hour taper which amazes SWIM.
