question regarding withdrawal and kratom

Hello everyone, Im new here, but have a very important question to ask, so please help me if you can! Swim has been using morphine for a long time. swim quit, then started again about a month and a half ago, now im wding again and it blows. swim has been withdrawaling for 5 days now and has been using kratom every day to ease symptoms and get some sleep at night. swims question is if the kratom will prolong the wd since it is an opiate/opioid? swim really wants to advoid this, but i cant imagine working or sleeping without the help of kratom. any help would be greatly appreciated.

It will prolong the withdrawal but if you were to taper off the kratom its going to be cake compared to plain morphine withdrawals. It all depends on how long swiy used opiates and how long swiy wants to stay on kratom.

Re: question regarding withdrawal and kratom

Patient X tried kratom for opiate withdrawals a number of times - and ended up with a kratom habit, then ended up with a kratom and oxycodone habit combined, as he ended up using kratom to fill in the gaps of his oxy supply.

Mind you he had been hooked on kratom for a year or two in the past.

Might work, might not, depends on the individual - but replacement addictions are very common, and X has experienced this with kratom, so probably don't bank on it.

X had opiate like withdrawals when he quit just kratom (after a long sustained period of heavy daily use) - but knows others who get hardly any withdrawals from kratom, so it really does vary.

The key with kratom withdrawals seems to be tapering but for individuals who have addiction problems it might not be possible. Swim can say in his experience the urge to use with kratom vs opiates is almost nonexistence so a kratom taper is all about how much discomfort hes willing to feel and how fast he wants/needs to go.

SWIM had the same experience and completely agrees with OhCasey. When SWIM tapers kratom he feels discomfort and wants to take kratom to stop it, but he doesn't have powerful urge to use (cravings) like he did while addicted to true opiates.
