Tramadol for ~300mg daily codeine withdrawal?

SWIM has had a ~300-400mg a day Codeine habit for about a year. SWIM is quite a small person and gets withdrawals that last about a week (meaning a week off of work).
SWIM wants a few weeks off of Codeine, so it will give him a high again.
He has some Tramadol coming his way soon - will taking Tramadol for a week or two while off the Codeine help/abort withdrawals?

If SWIM took Tramadol steady for a month while off of the Codeine, will going back on the Codeine afterwards give him a buzz?

Or, if SWIM wants to finish Codeine for good, is Tramadol withdrawal lighter than Codeine withdrawal?

SWIM should suck it up like a man, but hell, if there is an easier way, why not?

For the record, SWIM's had Tramadol before and enjoyed the euphoria, but found tolerance built up too soon. SWIM only took it for about a month in total, and only noticed about 2 days of depression (no vomiting or even insomnia) upon cessation.

Yeah, SWIM knows these are lightweight opiates - it is all he is prepared to deal with, especially after reading the oxy/H horror stories.
