feeling irritable on speed....

SWIM has taken speed on and of for years and has experienced feeling jittery and even a bit paranoid at times (but very very rarely) but mostly SWIM has positive experiences feeling chatty, happy and so on.

SWIM recently came across some speed and took it at a festival - a smallish amount. SWIM did not experience any of the positive effects of the drug and started to feel irritated and annoyed at her friends when SWIM knew (really) that they werent doing anything that would warrant that internal response...SWIM didnt feel paranoid or jittery just irritated....SWIM put this down to SWIM taking the drug at the end of a 3 day festival and being tired (and probably not eating enough either) ...SWIM knows that drugs often have different effects so didnt think about this experience until the following week.....

SWIM had some speed left over which was stored away...SWIM had another festival to go to and took some of the remaining speed. SWIM had the same experience again - this time SWIM left the festival and went home and was in an extremely irritable mood....this time though SWIM had plenty of sleep and food before going to the festival....

SWIM is just after some opinions as to why this might be happening...could it be SWIM's state of mind ?? Or might it be the drug?

Thanks everyone

jasita added 100 Minutes and 58 Seconds later...

just to clarify SWIM is wondering why this would happen NOW (SWIM understands that this is a common side effect) and why it has never happened to SWIM before now....or is it all just random ?

Re: feeling irritable on speed....

Normally swim would contribute this to poor nutrition and rest as is this case with his amphetamine use. He'd feel fine for an hour or two then get anxious and irritable, swiy should look into that first. Swim's second guess is it just my be bad speed, some dealers cut their products with other things or sell people something else entirely. It can also be the stuff left from the chemical process of making the speed, like left over precursors.

Re: feeling irritable on speed....

Thanks riaahacker- its just so weird because SWIM didnt feel any of the positive effects with this stuff.

SWIM was kinda wondering if it was dodgy speed.....SWIM still has some left and doesnt want to let it go to waste...but SWIM doesnt want to risk the mood that comes with this stuff....

Re: feeling irritable on speed....

SWIM would definitely say if it was illicitly produced, you probably got swindled. street amphetamines and mdma are often cut with substances, and may not even contain the drug one was sold.

"SWIM did not experience any of the positive effects of the drug and started to feel irritated and annoyed at her friends when SWIM knew (really) that they werent doing anything that would warrant that internal response...SWIM didnt feel paranoid or jittery just irritated....SWIM put this down to SWIM taking the drug at the end of a 3 day festival and being tired (and probably not eating enough either) ...SWIM knows that drugs often have different effects so didnt think about this experience until the following week....."

There is nothing like an amphetamine high... Sleep will affect your experience, only by dampening it. Eating has little effect (there was an experiment with cocaine or amphetamine, a monkey chose amphetamine over food and died of starvation) minimal as with sleep. amphetamine generally improves your state of mind, making things better, while easier to grasp.

If that ever happens again, report it to the dealer (if you know them), and toss whatever other pills of the same batch you may have. If its not amphetamine, there are so many other possibilities and none of them worth taking blind.

If it was a prescription product, let us know

Re: feeling irritable on speed....

SWIM has experienced after extended and regular use of speed it has started to have a different effect on his over time. He began to feel similar things that you are, slight paranoia, irritability, short temper etc. SWIM changed up his amph habits and tried something new...

Re: feeling irritable on speed....

SWy associates irritability on amphetamines with high tolerance.

Somehow the hit is never quite enough and just spaces him out or annoys him.

Re: feeling irritable on speed....

the negitive experience could have carried into the second dosing. swiy might have created a mental state associated only with that batch. you knew the effects the first time, and it stuck. try getting a different batch. or convince yourself the batch from the same dealer is different.

Could it possibly of been piperazines? We're are having a bit of a drug contamination epidemic in Britain due to piperazines.

Re: feeling irritable on speed....

SWIM has experienced this after have done cocaine on the previous night. The speed just gave him a headache and irritability. SWIM figured that depleted dopamine was probably responsible. SWIM doesn't know if that's applicable to SWIY's case, or if SWIY was doing any other subtances (or even speed) around this time.
