Codeine dose for someone tolerant to opiates?

SWIM used to take 5-6 T3's and do a CWE on them and it was awesome - the perfect dose for her (at the time). however, this was a few years ago, before her she started using hydrocodone, using daily for a week or so at a time and then taking a break for a month or more. in this time, her dose of hydrocodone has stayed in the moderate range of 25-35 mg to get a nice euphoric high (depending on how long its been in between "binges") right now, its at the 35mg mark.

she recently came into the posession of some of t3s, and was quite excited to do a CWE and get that familiar feeling. well, SWIM was pretty dissapointed, she did the CWE on 6 t3s, but after she drank it, experienced no euphoria whatsoever - just a mild "off" feeling, a headache, and horiffic itchies! so my question is, what amount of t3's should SWIM do a CWE on to get an experience similar to 35 mg of hydrocodone? she has 12 left.

also, she read online somewhere that 120 mg of codeine (4 t3's) is equivalent to 30 mg hydrocodone. however, that doesn't really seem to be the case in SWIM's experience.

Re: Codeine dose for someone tolerant to opiates?

Well, the best way would be to quit using hydrocodone for 4-5 days and then try using the same dose of codeine again. The thing with codeine is that it's primary action comes from it's metabolites (substances produced when the liver breaks down codeine) and since everyone's liver is different, it's really hard to compare a dose of codeine with a dose of an actual opiate.

Now, hydrocodone is a very strong opiate if you compare it to codeine, so when it comes to codeine your tolerance is probably way up.I'd say go for the 12, considering the loss in the CWE you should get about 300mg, if you can't get your tolerance down, that is.

Good luck, Robo

Depending on which conversion table you believe Hydrocodone is believed to be between 6-10 times the strength of Codeine. These figures are based on analgesia but should give swiy some idea of the differing potencies.
Going off the above info 180-300mg of codeine should roughly equal 30mg of Hydrocodone. It’s also worth remembering that Hydrocodone is slightly longer lasting than Codeine.

Re: Codeine dose for someone tolerant to opiates?

its interesting about the whole codeine converting to morphine in the liver thing, SWIM didnt even think of that (even though she knew thats what happens), but now it makes alot of sense why it was difficult to find a dose for dose comparison online for just codeine, when the rest were readily available.

even tho you can't really accurately gauge the equivalent dose of codeine to another opiate, it seems that jon-q's conversion table estimates it a bit better than the one SWIM found. so, SWIMs should be ok doing a CWE on all 12? she was thinking maybe sticking to only 10, but an extra 2 isn't gonna kill SWIM right? besides, SWIM read that at least 25% is lost in a CWE.

robo and jon, what do SWIY find is a good dose of codeine for them, just out of curiosity. and, at the 300mg-ish mark, should SWIM really think of getting an antihistamine? SWIM almost scratched her skin raw with only 6 t3s lol.
