Drug info - Record Keeping

Does anyone know - if I get one prescription filled from one dr and am able to get another from a different one is there a central place that knows about all narcotic presscriptions? Am I going to get in trouble?

In the uk swiy would definitely be in trouble if the scripts were for a controlled drug -such as opiates or amphetamines for instance.All scripts go to a central place for costing & the ones for anything that can be used recreationally are checked very thoroughly.
Swims known quite a few who`ve tried "double scripting" & most of them (maybe all,she cant remember exactly as it was a long time ago,)but certainly many of them were caught.
Swim cant recall if anyone was in trouble with the law....in fact now she stops to think about it she doesn`t know what the law on "double scripting" is.
Swim was told by a few people that they regretted ever going to a second doctor(usually private) as not only had they lost that script,but the other doc(invariably a national health drug treatment clinic)had stopped that script as well!!
Swim doesn`t know what the us regulations are,but would imagine they would be pretty stringent as well.
