SWIM has recently gotten himself into quit a bit of legal trouble. SWIM has had to move to another city, close, but rather far without any means of transportation. In order for SWIM to keep himself out of jail he has also had to cut of contact with most of his friends. Because of this, SWIM has been able to find any H anywhere. His main "friend" has also been arrested and put in jail. Does SWIY have any advice for SWIM by means in which to find a new "friend"?

IE

-Who should he talk to?
-Are there any people who might know where to find H? For example SWIM has heard where the cocaine is the heroin is sure to follow.
-Or should SWIM just stay clean from heroin until his friend is released from jail?

SWIM has no intent on stopping his use. And would greatly appreciate any advice in his search.

Providing you are only asking for general advice then no rules have been broken, but swiy should be careful, the ice on which you’re skating may be a little thin.

If Ali Baba pitched up in an unknown town he’d probably check out the local methadone clinic, these places tend to attract like-minded people and who knows you might even make one or two friends. That said and considering the reasons why you are away from home in the first place, maybe avoiding these places would be best?

SWIM is rather confused. SWIM has been talking to AFOAF about local methadone clinics and the closest one to where he lives is an out patient rehab center. SWIM doesn't understand why he would find like minded people at such a place, because wouldn't the people there want to get clean, since it is completely voluntary? And aren't people at a methadone clinic trying to stay clean? Or maybe SWIM has just a skewed view of what a methadone clinic actually. Thank you for the advice, but maybe you could elaborate abit further?

While some people are trying to get clean when attending methadone clinics others aren’t always being that honest and may well still be using, also by there nature users usually attend clinics before getting clean. Clearly one would try and approach the latter. This of course is the case in the UK and may well be different in the US.

It does seem strange to mix a methadone clinic with an out patient rehab centre but if that is the case then please ignore what swim advised and stay well away from there.
It looks like swiy is going to have to wait for is friend’s release after all.

SWIM was leaning towards staying clean anyway. Nothing wrong with staying away from opiates for a while, won't have to deal with being dope sick, since that has long passed. SWIM appreciates greatly appreciates SWIYs prompt advice.

Swim is starting on another methadone course tomorrow. Swim has no intention of getting clean, he just needs to be in a situation whereby he doesn't have to score to keep himself functioning.
Remember that the relapse rate is considerably higher than the cure rate, most of the people at these places will be able to hook you up, but of course, it's for a price, and if you don't pay that price you may very well get ripped off altogether.

Also try whores, and general down-and-outs, provided they're relatively coherent, not just nutjobs. happy hunting comrade.
