Snorting - Snorting a "shotgun"

Okay, so if you aren't familiar with the process of a "shotgun" it's when someone puts the hot end of a rolled marijuana cigarette or in Swims case, a blunt, in your mouth and blow, causing an enormous amount of pot-smoke to exit the mouthpiece, where Swiy is inhaling all of it, thus "Getting Blazed". Well, Swim was smoking with a few friends when one of them offered him a "charger". He had never heard of it so the friend went on to explain that it is just like a shotgun, except instead of inhaling all of the smoke, insulfate it. Well Swim has never snorted anything and didn't figure this would be considered snorting seeing that it is a smoke and not a solid such as a pill or powder. Swim proceeded to receive two of these "chargers", and right after exhaling felt that his head weighed a thousand pounds and was baked out of his mind. Swim enjoys this occasional method of smoking but has no idea if it actually gets him higher or if it's just a placebo effect type thing. Also, he wondered if this is an unhealthy method to use. Thank you in advance for any answers.

I'm curious. I'm having trouble understanding the mechanics of this... did you put the burnt end in your nose...?

SWIM wouldn't recommend it considering smoke is extremely hot & will probably errode SWIYs nasal passages if this is a regular method of smokin the cheeba.

Also it's probably pointless considering the bioavailability of smoked marijuana is very high anyways.

No, it's basically just like a regular shotgun except the person inhaling puts their nose where their mouth should be and snorts the smoke instead of oraly inhaling.

Well Swim just figured it was another way to get high quicker, such as a Gravity Bong or a regular shotgun. But Swim woke up this morning with a nosebleed, so he may consider not using this method again.

Yea this way really fucks you up. And it burns like a mother fucker but it is totally worth it afterwards because you should be feeling pretty good.

In this case your lung will be the part of the your body that lets the drug into your bloodflow. So the only thing you alter is the route to your lungs. Your nose is designed to filter unwanted substances out of the air you breath. So Swim thinks it'd be rather strange that less substances would mean more of a high.

Yust a thought though.

Doubt there would be much benefit. Since the THC isn't really going to fall out of solution in the nasal cavities (and hence be absorbed there), it's jsut going through a more delicate part of the system to the lungs.

It does sound like it could be irritating, and if the person blows to hard, may mess with the air pressure in your ears (squeeze your nose shut and blow out it if you doubt this, just don't do it hard, you can get hurt).

Probably best not to do this, no foreseeable benefits, risky at best.

I have heard of this method of smoking, and its called a 'blow-back' in SWIMS area. They are more common with the younger smokers. Through the nose is called a 'skull-attack'. Probably not too much of a good idea to smoke through the nose though.

SWIM has heard of people pulling 'bowls' or 'cones' through their nose (smoking a bong).

In normal smoking there are both nice, and nasty tokes. SWIM knows he would definitely not want to get a nasty toke by this method.

Smoking most things through the nose hurts like a mofo.

Might absorb ever so slightly more in the sinus. Passing opium smoke through the sinus wth a slow exhale always seemed to increase the effect for a monkey quite a bit. But opium is hard for primates to come by, tedious to produce, and expensive if purchased. Pot, not so much.

Probably not worth it.
Though, I'd think an ape could get a briefly increased effect, beyond placebo, from the singeing of your nasal passageway resulting in a dopaminergic pain response which might synergize with the effect of THC.

It's an effect better served with very spicey food and marijuana smoked in a traditional fashion.
