Drug info - Differences in Oxycontin generic vs branded?

SWIM is well aware that generic Oxycontin gels, making it basically impossible to inhale. This is the only difference between generic and branded Oxycontin that SWIM is aware of.

SWIM is curious if there are any other significant differences between branded and generic Oxycontin, as SWIM naturally has very serious concerns for SWIM's general health, and if SWIM knew of any sort of reason to use branded Oxycontin rather than generic, it might come up during discussion with SWIM's doctor. This doctor will certainly prescribe generic Oxycontin rather than branded, as he has in the past, unless SWIM presents some reason that SWIM should be prescribed branded Oxycontin instead.

Naturally, SWIM does not wish to raise any unwarranted suspicion, but only to present a reasonable rationale as to why branded Oxycontin might be SWIM's preferred prescription. Is there a reasonable way for SWIM to handle this delicate issue without arousing any unfortunate and baseless suspicions?

Maybe start off by asking a few slightly exaggerated questions about generic medicines... Such as "can they be trusted" etc.. They just say, no matter what he says, that you have some issue with having generic brands and for peace of mind you would prefer to pay the little extra and have the brand name one.

duhh, he's saying he wants real oxycontin not generic but he needs a reason to say that to the doctor because u cant just say hey these generics are un snort able i want the real OC's so i can...

It's risky( unless it's actually true) but, Swiy might try "The pharmacy is out of the generic and they won't substitute without charging full price."

It actually happened to Swim yesterday, he went to his "normal pharmacy-no go, then 2 neighboring pharmacies-no go, called the rest of the pharmacies in the area-no go.

He then went straight back to his Dr. and explained the situation (without substituting would have cost a BUNCH full price) and the Dr. re-wrote the script for the "brand name".

Swim has stated to his MD that generics gave him bad cramps in stomach,and that they were not as effective as the brand name Ocs........................
All of that is true by the way..........not as effective is your best bet to have them written out as "medically necessary"


Also swim has come across a new brand of generic that is 80mg but is labeled oxycodone ER..........Guess they have a time release matrix,but for one,they are not as effective as brand and two,for all you IV users out there they jell up...........and I don't believe that you could prep them in the microwave like some morphine pills.

And three,this might change things on the street but,because the do jell-up.......iv users will not buy them...........AHHH sorry cannot talk about prices............Q.Are they brand or are they jellies?......Jellies.........don't want em.

swim has 8 generic oxy 80's that were supposed to be brand name but swims friend failed him.. well the pharmacy failed swims friend who in turn failed swim. anywhoo. these ones gel up what can swim do to them to make them useful IE: pluggable or snifffable(swim prefers this) or is there a process that makes them smokeable???
when swim would get the brand OC 80's he loved them, he'd remove the er coating cut in half then grind it up and split that half with his gf and have a nice buzz for awhile and relax and watch tv but with these gooey ones swim doesnt get the same calming effect. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP SWIM , HE WOULD HATE TO WASTE THESE OTHERWISE VERY DESIRABLE PILLS.

This has been gone over many times on this forum just UTFSE. If swiy rakes out the beads after they crush the pills then the remaining powder is easily snortable without them gelling up much. The beads can then be swallowed.

swim cant tell the difference from chunks of pill and "beads" cuz there doesnt appear to be any beads but swim just took thim how they were supposed to be and will be getting the real oc 80's tomorro so swim is okay.

alot of places only sell branded cas they stoped making generic oxycontin.
predupharms put a stop of selling generic oxys case they were lsing too much money so my doctor says
