methadone with an oxy on top

Swim will b going to the doctor soon. swim is on 65mg of methadone and has been told that he will not feel anything on top of that by many ppl. swim was wondering tho if he was perscribed oxycodone, say like 30mg 4 times a day, do you swimmers think its possible to feel it. will it at least make swims metahdone feel a bit stronger? will it increase swims tolerance to the point were he will need a methadone increase? also was wondering, since ppl say that with meth, he will not feel the euphoria from the oxy but he WILL get pain releif. can somebody explain this to SWIM PLEASE> would it be better than if swim decreased his methadone dose to say 20-35mg and take the oxy? would he then feel it?

I have heard that anything over 50 mgs. of methadone is a blocker. I would try to take maybe 40 and then the oxy. I am new here and really confused with the swim thing,what exactly is swim?

Everyones different,but my friend could feel oxy(80mg)while on 65mgs of methodone.This is not recomended,unless swims highly tolerant to opiates.When it comes to methodone,its real easy to fuck up.

That being said is it a pain relief situation?If so try stopping the methodone while on oxy,and continue MMT after.

swim isn 't sure exactly wat u mean rokman. u said swim would have to be highly tolerant to opiates. does that mean swim will feel it harder than before because it seems as tho the /done would make swims tolerance higher that it was. will swim feel it more than before he was on meth? swim is so confused. swim has been "CLEAN" for 6 months now. clean meaining not taking other opiates beside methadone. swims been CRAVING oxy realy bad tho but would hate to relapse to feel nothing. swim has ocd as well

Well. It depends on your tolerance to methadone, and your tolerance to oxy.

Either way, you absolutely will not feel the full effects of the oxy as if you werent on any methadone at all.

You probably wont get the initial rush but may still get "the nod".

Or you may not get anything.

And if youve been on methadone for a while then stopping for one day so you can take the oxy wont help. Methadone builds up in your liver and depending on your dose and frequency of use it could take up to 8 days for you to get the full effects of the oxy again.

Id say wait at least 2 days to take the oc

Yeah i just saw youve been on it for 6 months. Man, you really wanna relapse for nothing? Cause honesty you wont feel it like you remeber it, then on top of that your gonna feel like shit for relapsing.

Im on mmt to man, and for me it just wouldnt be worth it. Remeber man were in fights for our lives.

Swim thought he would add one more thing. swims teacher for his class he currently takes for relapse prevention at swims clinic, is acualy the one encouraging swim to GET ON PAINKILLERS> swim is the one refusing. swim just wants to feel high i think because swim is looking for anything to justify using oxy and swim knows that. swim knows the BEST thing to do is to stay on the methadone and methadone only. its tempting tho.

You are wise for your age girl! Seems like your really cool and swim totally agrees with what you said. Does anyone get methadone pills or does everyone go to a clinic? swim doc gave her methadone pills when she had a problem with oxycontin back in the day.

People who are struggling to stay sober, thats who cares! This should be a safe place to come and talk, that is my point. This is hard !!!!!!! enough without reminders of what we can and can't have.

Please don't misunderstand me. I am not asking anyone to feel guilty or carry it or anything like that. I just know that for Roxie, she needs a safe place to come and not think about all the temptations and the possibilities of being high with this on top of that, and mix it this way and add this drug....
You have to understand she is in FULL ON early stage recovery/withdrawal, has very few places to go, very few people to talk to, so she logs in to this site for support and people are talking about how to get HIGHER??? she is just frustrated and doesn't need one of the few places she has to go to be "safe" to be polluted with using. There are plenty of places to face temptations/reminders. Just about every waking moment.
That is all I am saying.

I guess people have different ways of dealing with trying to stop the drugs, Swim knows plenty of people who consider themselves to be "trying to quit" when they eat one less pill a day and who just stockpile the extra pills for the weekends.lol. We all struggle whether we are trying to quit,taper,or even just to deal with what we are doing to our bodies. I think that the best thing for us all is to be able to come here and hear other swimmers stories without judging their motives.You know people always want to find ways to get "Higher",whether you read it here or not.It is always there regardless. Swim is prescribed meds for pain, but swim has to be honest and admit that she also enjoys the high and is always keeping her out for ways to extend or prolong it. Swim is not proud of it by any means. Swim thinks people get confused as to where they should post certain threads and that no one means any harm to anyones serious sobriety.Maybe there should be just an area(and there may be as I am a newbie,lol) for swimmers to just talk about ways to get higher. I wish you the best on your recovery,I really do I know it is so hard because I have tried before myself.

If someone were to relapse because of a message thread that would be sad. that person would have relapsed regardless. and this tread is not to figure out how to get HIGHER> swim started the tread and it was to find out wether or not swim would be able to take oxycodone for pain with mehadone. swim thinks you might have read it wrong ...anyways this tread is getting off topic just a little bit.

This "section" -the opiate addiction thread- is just one of many here.

As was said earlier. If someone were to relapse because of a thread on the net, that person would have relapsed regardless.

Ad the temptations of using are going to be there no matter what. If your worried about that then comming to a place called "drugs forum" probably isnt the best idea.

hey motherlove. ya kinda. swim has gotten various answers from various pple and some saying that the oxy will not work while on methadone(as well as a period of after that) and some swimmers say that they CAN in fact feel the oxy and its a good painkiller in conjunction with the done. thanks to all who have given thier experience. for now i think swim will just stick with the methadone. swim doesn't want to do anything to damage his sobriety wich is nearing about 5-6 months.

SWIM is prescribed 45mg methadone/daily and 30mg oxycodone/daily -which isn't that much considering the amount of pain he's in. Has been on both for about 3-4 years on and off. When SWIM takes 20mg at night, the next morning he can take 20-30mg oxycodone and definitely feel the effects. Everyone is different though...

But wise choice sticking to the methadone only! It's definitely GREAT for pain, better than oxy IMO.
