Is it possible to make alcohol without waiting a long time
Swim has found many how-to's on making alcohol, but all of them require waiting a few days, weeks or months before drinking. Is there any way to reduce this waiting time? Can you just drink it once you've made it?

Re: Is it possible to make alcohol without waiting a long time
You must be very impatient. Alcohol isn't just produced in a split second, it takes time, fermentation and all that jazz. You can do whatever you want, as soon as you want, with the resulting liquid and would probably have to be very desperate to drink it. The alcohol content would be very low too. Basically either take your time when brewing (Rome wasn't build in a day) or just skip the time consuming process and buy your own.

Re: Is it possible to make alcohol without waiting a long time
Yeah, the bad news is that making booze does take time. Right now SWIM is restarting alcohol production and he's looking at getting some quickie results as well. Here's the quickest recipe he found. Fuck knows what cream of tartar is, though. Google it.
http://www.channel4.com/food/recipes...ecipe_p_1.html The one he's going for, though, is rice and raisin wine. Ordered some stuff off Ebay today to get the ball rolling. It takes 3 weeks, but that's ultra-quick in wine terms. Again, just Google rice and raisin wine to get some recipes - they're all pretty much the same. SWIM is working from C. J. J. Berry's "First Steps in Winemaking" - an excellent book. If it turns out shit, he'll just distil it. God knows what it'll taste like then. |

Re: Is it possible to make alcohol without waiting a long time
You can make reasonable beer in 2 weeks, and ok wine in a month.
If you're distilling you can make some spirits in less than a week including fermenntation time - with the right recipe of course. |

Alcohol is like a crop, except not from a plant, but a fungus. There must first be growth then ripening. Liqueur is quicker, but requires more equipment and knowledge, not to mention significant danger.
