Wait 25mg Diphenhydramine HCl = 50mg Dimenhydrinate? SWIM doesn't have cough syrup only 25mg Diphenhydramine HCl pills. Is 250mg Diphenhydrinate HCl (500mg Dimenhydrinate) a good dose?

Ok to be alot more clear: "Dimenhydrinate" is a "salt" of diphenhydramine and 8-chlorotheophylline, a chlorinated derivative of the theophylline, in which is closely related to caffeine.

-Diphenhydramine is a single drug
-Dimenhydrinate the name of 2 separet molecule drugs that ionically bond to eachother, so it is a combo of the 2.

ok, math time: Dimenhydrinate is ~60% the the concentration of a pure diphenhydramine dosage and is slightly less sedating because of the caffeine-like salt combination. In example - 50 mg's of dimenhydrinate contains 29 mg of the drug diphenhydramine. One of the main differenced between the two is that: dimenhydrinate must dissociate into diphenhydramine and its counterion in the body before it is active, which means diphenhydramine alone will produce it's effects alot sooner.

SWIM used to take 400mg of Diphenhydramine Hcl. He had definite auditory hallucinations, but there was (looking back, thankfully) no visual hallucinations.

The auditory hallucinations were intense enough to frighten him though, apparently.

Not recommended at any dose. One would be better off taking Dextromethorphan alone.

The visual hallucinations diphenhydramine offers are interesting.Having a conversation with ones friends thirty minutes after he left could be described as fun especially if swiy is lonely but it can be a little scary.Seeing ghost like faces float across ones carpet however is nothing but frightening!Trust swim on this.

Diphenhydramine sucks..SWIM once took a bunch of pills...dosent rember how many...was a little dissociated and had a hell of a dry mouth..thats about it.

SWIM has had many auditory and visual hallucinations. But all in all, it's just not worth it . SWIM has used the benadryl(forgets what they have now, as it's been a while, but he believes each pills was 50mg diphenhydramine) and would take 12-24 sometimes more. The dosage always varied, and the effects of the dosage did as well. But all in all, if SWIyou does stay awake, and SYIyou does experience the delerium, SWIY probably will regret it as the physically effects are pretty unpleasant.

this thread needs to be closed... it has no point anymore. diphenhydramine is an OTC drug that is a very useful anti-histamine drug and helps out alot of people. Think about it... if it is sold OTC and can be bought by any 7th grader thinking they have found the new LSD due to the "intense visuals you can't separate from reality" crap that is played up all over the net then why doesn't everyone take it...

because it is not a very fun thing to do. poisoning your body and mind into dilerium is something many don't think about with diphenhydramine

overall swim says stay away and look for better things to come along because it would be a shame to see this go the way of DXM syrups where you can't buy it unless you're over 18 and it is diluted with such horrible substances that you can barely take a NORMAL dose without vomiting...

not trying to vent swim's just tired of hearing about this substance without people looking beyond played up effects from erowid...

Swim wouldn't call the effects "played up or "exaggerated.Diphenhydramine can and will cause some wicked audio and visual hallucinations.The reason why not everyone takes it is not because it's not powerful but because it is sometimes too powerful and very unpleasant.The body high feels nasty,the hallucinations can be frightening,and the feeling of impending doom is the worst part of the package.

SWIM once did a 200mg dose, it didn't do jack shit other than make him really sleepy. He hasn't had a chance to try anything higher since then, but is thinking he might try 300mg next, and 400 after that if 300 doesn't do anything(or it does and he likes it). SWIM was wondering what kind of doses SWIorchid does? He seems to be really knowledgable and experienced with this stuff.

Make sure SWIY spaces out his trips as he slowly increases his dosages, as diphenhydramine builds up a tolerance fast.

Orchid will probably post his friend's dosages but my dragon can be of some help as well, he has had four diphenhydramine experiences in the following order:

450mg: a pretty good dose, visual and auditory hallucinations, seeing handwritten script all over the walls, nothing intense
650mg: too high of a dose, the delirium made this night too confusing, he would appear in a room in his house and not know how he got there, most of this night is forgotten from his memory
350mg: fairly mild auditory and visual hallucinations
500mg: fairly similar to the first experience, although the timeline was much shorter, my dragon reached his peak after one hour and was almost sober after two hours, perhaps this was a tolerance effect

It sometimes depends on the person's bodyweight.Swim is very thin so 250mg's is enough for a rather intense trip.Just 100 mg's and abit of euphoria and then that diphenhydramine bodyload,heightened appreciation of music,mild auditory hallucinations.Just eighty mg's could probably be enough for a beginner to get a sense of what they are dealing with and if they want to continue.

SWIM also has a general high tolerance, this may be due in part to the fact that he's 220lbs. He also takes normal doses of DPH occasionaly to treat his cat allergies.

SWIM tried diphenhydramine for the first time last night. He took 200 mg, and had another 100 in case 200 wasn't enough. He never did take the rest, just the 200. He wish he had because the 200 just made him extremely tired. He was dizzy, extremely heavy, and the only thing he wanted to do was lie down. On top of that, he kept have these like twitches. He would just almost shake for a sec. He ended up going to bed because he was nearly ready to fall out of the chair. He then laid there for awhile, extremely tired, but unable to sleep.

swim did benadryl a good amount of times last semester because he was not having a happy time with life, and it was alright at low doses. It makes you really chill if you only take a low dose. At hallucinogenic levels, it makes you tired as heck, weak, heavy-feeling (so much so it was hard to breath at times), and makes it impossible to connect thoughts for more than 30 seconds at the most. Then you sleep forever.

If you dont mind all that, that hallucinations are, I heard from swim, very very real. One time swim talked to his roomate for about 10 minutes only to find out he was not there. It was not 'fun' though

well im 140 and the first time swim took it was the only time swim "tripped balls", and it was at 300. swim take 700 sometimes and just feels drunk. its unpredictable andnot something you can force. if your adament, swiy should take 400, but no more.

It can take longer than 2 hours to come up, and nightly use isn't that great for you.

to the OP anywhere from 300-400mg should do some interesting things. SWIM has bumped it up to 625mg before. SWIM weighs somewhere between 165-175lbs and is 6'4" or so he tells me.

reading up on the effects should give caution for use of this chemical.

do u have a resistance built up or no?

if u havent taken any before take 500 mg

if u have quite a big resistance to them dont trip balls. once u start to take them alot and build up a resistance u get less and less of the high but still get the bad side effects (increased/irregular heartbeat, and it can be fatal).

SWIM took 200mg 4 generic diphenhydramines about 30 mins ago.. SWIM started feeling kinda tired and started staring off into space. SWIM decided to take 2 simply sleep at 25mg each brought the total to 250 mg. SWIM is wondering what should they expect at this level?
BTW heught 5'11 weight 195

SWIM took 12 benadryl and has heavy ass legs, suppressed breathing, and light halluciinations. Swim is worried about his liver =\. Wjhat are the chances of oding when you are this weight and height and use this amount?

SWIM read that 300 is most likely the least ammount to take... but SWIM wants to be sure.

siwy will be ok but feeling as though he is in absolute hell for the next 24 hours, the hallucinations are genuine, creepy and the body high is anxiety-producing. genereally, not a fun experience in swim's opinion, always a long bad bad trip. swiy will be fine if he doesn't have to go anywhere. if you do, look out for the rats swim saw them everywhere he went when he had to go to school the day after
