Rubbing Alcohol vs. Everclear Alcohol Extraction Question.

My girlfriend's friend extracted mescaline from the peruvian torch cacti useing the Alcohol extraction method. Once with everclear and once with 99% rubbing Alcohol. The everclear seemed as if it pulled out more alkoloids than the rubbing Alcohol because the everclear left a lot more black tar goo than the rubbing Alcohol. His guess was that the rubbing Alcohol creates a "more pure" extract than everclear. He took both different type of tars on different days and noticed that there was a difference in the trips just because of the different Alcohols he used. So my question is if anyone has any knowledge on the difference of rubbing Alcohol and everclear Alcohol extractions. Is there a difference in the trip? A difference in how many alkoloids are pulled out?
