Swim has tried Amanitas up to 8g and had interesting experiences. He definitely wants to try pushing up to higher dosages. He will provide a trip report in a bit.
He definitely enjoyed them though and thinks that they would be a good introduction to tripping if taken at the right dosage. |

The amanita pantherina strain contains much more ibotenic acid and muscimol than the amanita muscaria varieties. SWIM has read that the amanita muscaria formosa contains less of the toxins than most other amanita varieties. The pantherina, although more potent than the amanita muscaria as far as psychoactivity goes, do, however, contain more toxins than either of the other two strains that SWIM mentioned above.
SWIM has eaten the pantherina (panther caps) and has lived to tell about it. They are NOT deadly poisonous so long as you don't go eating more than 3/4 of an ounce and whatever you do, be sure not to drink alcohol or take any tylenol that day or anything else for that matter that will cause an additional taxing on the liver. When SWIM ate the panther caps it was a combination of laughing and confusion moreso than visuals and the common types of hallucinations provided by eating psilocybin mushrooms. |

Re: Amania Muscaria... should I order some?
There are better entheogens available in Swims opinion (Salvia, Kratom, etc) .
If you do order this be sure to research it first. Make sure you cook it to convert the poison into the active stuff. Try a very small dose first to see how you react. A negative bodyload is common on this, so expect to loose your lunch. |

Making it into a tea or something (under lower temperatures of course) could make it easier to ingest and further help the conversion process. Swim has never had problems with nausea with Amanitas before. |

Lower temperatures meaning just under boiling right?

Re: Amanita Muscaria... should I order some?
Adding a bit of cooking oil (olive oil is best) to the mix helps pad it's entry into the system. It actually tastes good, says Bongo. But do have SWIM do his homework and research this fully.

Re: Amanita Muscaria... should I order some?
Never cooked with Amanitas before, but sauteing them in a pan and making a spaghetti sauce with them would probably be pretty delicious.

That's right, but the probability of nausea would increase a lot! SWIM's friend experienced a strong nausea on Muscaria and that was the most ugly trip of his life...

Re: Amanita Muscaria... should I order some?
I cant understand why anyone would want to buy these from the net or anywhere else for that matter. Cant people just wait for the right time of year and then just go out and hunt for them. Hunting is fun and a cool way to spend some time out in the woods. Amanitas are lovley things to find. They have nice big red caps that you can easily spot from a distance. Because of their stricking features there is no chance of misidentification. So even a novice wth no mycological experience is going to accidently eat a Destroying Angles or a Death Caps. Youre only one excuse for buying them is you live in a desert or the North Pole

Re: Amanita Muscaria... should I order some?
Um...I found a lovely amanita muscaria (?) growing out of the same base as an all-white amanita verna in New England. So much for the "easy to identify" theory.
