Ginkgo Biloba:Personal Experiences

I have recently taken an interest to noo-trophics. I am not sure if Ginkgo Biloba is even allowed to be considered as one.

I consider myself fairly sensitive to drug effects. During an unusually stressful work week I tried this stuff and after just 15 minutes I noticed an effect which was sort of like a non-heavy and non-confusing buzz.

Not intense either. I also felt like my concentration and mindset because demented.

I am curious if anyone else has had similar effects with this drug.

snickers added 0 Minutes and 45 Seconds later...

*became demented...

Re: Ginkgo Biloba:Personal Experiences

SWIM received a bottle of Gingo Biloba as a gift a while ago. He's been taking it everyday for about 2 months. It's had absolutely no noticeable effect. I don't understand how SWIY can get a buzz off of it. All it does is decrease the viscosity of the blood. And supposedly this allows for more blood to flow easily to the brain and increase cognitive function.

Although SWIM is prescribed a vascoconstrictant drug(methylphenidate, Concerta) so maybe the constricting effects of the concerta counteract the gingo biloba effects?

Re: Ginkgo Biloba:Personal Experiences

Perhaps buzz is the wrong term...

Swim or Swint has just taken another before this post to reaffirm any noticable effect...

Mind you... I do consider swim hypersensitive... even too much caffeine is a negative effect...

The effect were noticeable as close to five minutes. Swim is a programmer by trade and takes extra precaution to understand their current level of cognitive functions and thought processes...

A slight discomfort behind the left eye towards the center of the brain which was experienced the last time as well. This time noticable sensations were surprising felt elsewhere in SWIMS brain. SWIMS ability to focus and remember recent tasks at hand have not improved... but there is definitely a different state of mind... more alertness... a physical intensity buzz of sorts... nothing negative... very mild...

If I were to take a wild guess... this is hemorrhaging which has led to dementia... SWIM is not stressed today so there is no confusion of panic.

This could a placebo for sure... but I am fairly confident the effects are real... after doing some quick searches... I did find mention of hemoragging associated with the drug. This is before I came to the generalization that it could be so...

Funny you should mention that... Swim been trying out piracetam for the last few days...

SWIM decided to push the recommended dosage just slightly nasally and woke up with a weak eye (would focus but an unusual bias was placed on the other for sight)... nothing scary... only temporary... but SWIM they thinks it might be related...

All things aside... SWIM will not be using Gingko on a regular basis but suspects overall it might be a good occasional supplement. Swim will be avoiding pushing any sort of experimenting with piracetam as well since it is obviously not something which is good in strange doses... debatable if it's good for long term/short term use too... but it rocks alonside SWIMS daily regime of coffee and nicotene...

SWIM has always wondered what good a doctor is since SWIM is aware of a substantial amount of brain abuse in the past which was just shurgged off with a "what did you expect SWIM"... Never mind the doctors... SWIM has learned SWIM's awareness is the best doctor around... If swim should ever lose thier ability to speak, begin bleeding from the eyes, ect... SWIM will certainly go see one of course.

Probably so. Before discontuing Concerta to see if Ginko has any effects, try taking two asprin (a blood thinner, allowing for better cerebral blood flow, as well as reducing cardio-stress) with both concerta, and Ginko.

Re: Ginkgo Biloba:Personal Experiences

swim recently picked up a bottle of 100mg capsules and i have to say WOW swim was not expecting it to be this good. Feels shockingly similar to extacy tho much more mild obviously, swim can think clearer, notice little details in things (visually), as a matter of fact everything seems to be more visually stimulating after swim took 3 or 4 capsules. It also has a lot of similarities to thc IMO

this of course is just swim, but yea definately no placebo

Re: Ginkgo Biloba:Personal Experiences

the peak effects of ginkgo biloba are reached 2.5 hours after ingestion.
so maybe your just feeling a placebo.

Re: Ginkgo Biloba:Personal Experiences

SWIM understands that... SWIM also feels that the overall effect wears off rather quickly... about 5 or so hours with a peak not being a typical "peak" but rather a steady state achieved gradually... noticeable effects within minutes...

Re: Ginkgo Biloba:Personal Experiences

Just so you know... the forum admins will come around and give you an infraction notice if you don't de-incriminate yourself.

even thought ginko biloba is entirely legal... SWIM got one... instead of him, her, them, I, Me... They prefer you use Someone Who Isn't Me...

SWIM picked it up at his drug store out of the vitamin section... 40mg... that's it... mind you... SWIM can be a bit of a psychopath sometimes and usually works himself to death... perhaps it is a placebo effect... but SWIM doesn't seem to think so...

snickers added 2 Minutes and 6 Seconds later...

It says... standardized to contain...
Ginko Biloba 40mg

flavoglycosides 9.6mg
Terpene Lactones 2.4mg

snickers added 5 Minutes and 13 Seconds later...

Additionally... it is not SWIM's intention to get a buzz but to boost his mental performance... SWIM takes nothing else currently but has a long history of other types of experiments associated with mind expansions, leisure and chronic partying...

Re: Ginkgo Biloba:Personal Experiences

Oh wow, SWIM's been taking 120mg pills. He didn't even realize that pills came in doses as low as 40mg. It's strange how one person can take one dose and feel some effects and another can take triple the amount and feel nothing.

Has any other Swimmers tried Gingo? I'd like to learn more about this. Maybe it's more effective when combined with other Nootropics?

Re: Ginkgo Biloba:Personal Experiences

Whoa, swims ginkgo tablets are 350mg, which judging by this thread is really high. Swim does not really notice anything from them he should add. He brought them to aid circulation, only to later find that there is little evidence that they actually imorove circulation.

I do honestly think that a lot of what is attributed to ginkgo is placebo. Though maybe not everything, it would be interesting to see if people saying it has a good effect would have noticed anything were they not looking for whats its effects may be.

nah man swim can definately feel more going on up in his brain. Definately not placebo. Swim has never studied for more than 2 hours in his life but yesterday he was studying all day on this stuff. There is also a nasty hangover

Re: Ginkgo Biloba:Personal Experiences

A few years ago when SWIM first took Gingko, after the first dose used to get a massive head rush. During those episodes, I found it hard to tolerate it. SWIM would lie down and wait for it to pass. SWIM have started Gingko back up for a few months now, I experience no more head rush. SWIM also taking piracetam, so I am not sure if piracetam is preventing the massive head rush, or my body got adjusted to ginkgo.

Does SWIY know if previous experience with dissociative or any other sort of history might have played a role in susceptibility or effect of ginko?

Re: Ginkgo Biloba:Personal Experiences

25 gr of 24% standardized ginkgo just arrived to Swim. He will let you know.
He just tried to snort 100mg, but since he's not into snorting (and it burned) he expelled after 3-4 minutes. If he will retry he will let you know also this.

Swim will try 80mg + 80mg + 80mg along with the 3 piracetam and choline citrate servings

Re: Ginkgo Biloba:Personal Experiences

ahh. back in the day when swim was in rehab after stopping the smoking of methamphetamines, swim would drink a few vials in the morning, and there was noticable "perk up" involved. swim is also very sensitive to coffee.

instead of feeling like sleeping on the lounge, swim was running around kicking a soccer ball. something definitely affected the upstairs component of the brain synthesizer.

Re: Ginkgo Biloba:Personal Experiences

SWIM has found that different brands induce different kinds of results, at least for his sake. First brand he ever tried had no noticeable effect except for a slight increase in mood. Second brand that he bought actually made him feel as if his memory and concentration had been improved. Alas, the results slowly diminished with each subsequent dose. Disheartened that his "miracle cure" for studying had lost its potency, he decided to add energy drinks to the regimen in hopes of getting the same initial feeling. It worked!

Although concentration and memory retention while studying had improved, SWIM noticed a strange adverse effect when he later went to work as a server. Multi-tasking had become a chore, often walking back and forth to the same area forgetting what he had initially went there for in the first place. Lol. Remembering orders on the fly had become very difficult even for simple drink orders. And he often felt very anxious or nervous before he would speak to a table as if they were critiquing his serving abilities. This also could have been attributed to lack of sleep, but he didn't notice these same effects when he would study all night without the use of Ginkgo so...

He had used this combination of Ginkgo and energy drink for maybe half of his 2 year term at a technical college and did very well but the aforementioned side effects often deterred him from usage if he had to work the next day (yes, it was that serious...more annoying actually). Then he got his hands on some Adderall and found that although his concentration improved 10-fold compared to his previous "miracle drug", he often concentrated on everything else besides studying. LOL! Also, it was very addictive and he soon found himself using it to work (made him very aggreeable to everyone), to work-out (made him lift immensely more) and to play basketball (he has acute asthma but with adderall it seems as if he can run all day... strange?). In short, when it came time to study, he had to revert back to Gingko to preserve his adderall. For a period, he tried stacking the two but it had a terrible effect on his memory retention and his brain felt very cloudy. Blah!

Sorry the post was so long. SWIM just felt as if this could have helped someone who was thinking what stacking adderall and Gingko Biloba's effects would be. In short, just a very muddled state of mind.

Re: Ginkgo Biloba:Personal Experiences

When SWIM first started using Ginkgo, he experienced something close to feeling the blood in his body inside the skin, which was also something when he first started using marijuana, but that was about all that SWIM got from it, although, SWIM thinks that ginkgo may increase his marijuana high, by allowing more THC-enriched blood to reach the brain.

this is a very interesting comment. it does feel as if the blood flow is increased/warmer as such.

swim is now suffering with an intense headache after using guarana + ginseng to catch up a shitload of homework.

thank fuck the next course doesnt start till next week! luckily a cup of coffee takes the edge off. (swim doesnt normally drink coffee eh). do feel better for it though.
