Amphetamine + Fluoxetine (Prozac) Dangers?

As the title suggests..

Is there anything Swim should be aware of? Swim UTFSE but to no avail on this particular subject.

Swim recently took about a month off his SSRI (Prozac) and is wondering if returning to his medication could be dangerous when combined with regular amphetamine use?

Swim appears to be fine without his meds but you never know.. so if there's anything he should know about he'd like to hear from you, preferably in detail as he's read a fair bit about MMOI's, however Prozac is an SSRI. Is this as dangerous to mix, less, or not at all? (Generally speaking)

Thanks =)

Re: Amphetamine + Fluoxetine (Prozac) Dangers?

Don't know of any serious complications from amphetamine and an SSRI as swim knows a lot of ADHD people who take both amphetamines and SSRI's and various dosage. Be aware though that SSRI's might prevent amphetamine euphoria or at least lessen it through various mechanisms but that shouldn't be of concern if you use amphetamine strictly for purposes of utility.

Could pose a risk, perhaps.

Re: Amphetamine + Fluoxetine (Prozac) Dangers?

Aint SSRI's a daft idea for druggies.

Y was coasting along on a course of SSRI's but the very fact he was using drugs (SSRI's) to mask depression symptoms, (one of which was drug problematic use) made him wanna use drugs more.

Even if he didnt use drugs, he still thought about them.
SSRIarse

Humdroid added 7,215mins and 36,700,000 seconds later:

Y says best go back to doc and say, "Hey dude, bad idea, gimme a phet script and drugs program (if required) or some non drug and helpful therapy, so I dont have this prozac phet conundrum going on.
Do your job properly, Doc, eh?"

Haha,

well the doc took swim off temazepam and stuck him on prozac, fuck knows why.. swim doubts he would get a phet script. Swim uses alot of phets for studying and partying, since he doesn't like drinking so much these days, but as far as swim can see there should be no problems.. =)

Re: Amphetamine + Fluoxetine (Prozac) Dangers?

SWIM is either prone to Serotonin Syndrome or takes way too many drugs.

SWIM had been chewing extended-release Dexedrine (recreationally, of course) for about a year before she started taking Prozac (40 mg). The first thing she noticed in terms of interaction was that the Dexedrine seemed less effective. This was also true for E. Everyone else at a party, including those with higher tolerances, could be rolling balls, but SWIM experienced a much milder high and was generally pretty irate about it.

SWIM had her first experience with SS during a four-day Dex binge. She was actually having sex when the symptoms first began. She felt dizzy, weak, and limp; as though she couldn't move anymore. She's told that she passed out more than once. She was miserable and afraid and if it had been a "normal" drug reaction (ie, if it had not resulted from large recreational doses of a drug not prescribed to her), she probably would have gone to the emergency room. Instead, she was given two Xanax and two Norco. After eating some food that she can't remember, she went to sleep for about a day.

SWIM had two other SS experiences, on involving E. Then SWIM stopped taking Prozac. What a killjoy.
