HELP! SAVE SOME SYRUP!(jello wont set)
lets say a cactus syrup was made and jello was added... and then lets say it wouldnt set...and then maybe we could say it has increased the volume quite a bit.let us then say that someone wanted to remove the gelatin and just work with the syrup. how would someone go about achieving this? evaporating leaves a lot of extract on account of the gelatin being in there too.
I heard someone say once that gelatin isnt soluble in alcohol. Could an alcohol extraction of sorts work or would filtering have any effect here? a small amount of the evaporated gelatin/syrup will not dissolve in alcohol (would heat change that?) though so that poses a problem.
is there a way to get the gelatin out of this stuff or refine it further (a/b currently out of the question)? or would someone have to just deal with it in its current state? it has been dissolved back into water and is relatively thin when warm...
one could just do ones best to get it in somehow but it seems like a lot of work/time to end up with not much less that the starting weight of the materials used...
what advice could be given to one who was short on time,at wits end and considering just drinking the stuff?
the cactus used does not contain anything illegal and this is a hypothetical mental exercise anyway...
