Re: best coca tea available
here's a repost from this thread----------- with the inherent limitations imposed by the sources rule.
more input would be welcome, but please do not mention any vendor exclusive brands ( yes, this does rule out a well known vendor) http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18297 --------------------------------------- ok. Brand discussion is allowed, as long as these are actually commercially available brands, and not vendor specific. This excludes one main known vendor, which offers different grades of mate de coca. On this particular brand i will say that his quality is very good, and that the grades given do mean something. The coca is sometimes stronger, sometimes weaker, this is due to the difficulties in finding proper suppliers, geographical issues and types of coca harvested ( smaller coca E. coca leaves are usually stronger)- and the harvest period. Yet this coca brand is good. for Peruvian brands, Arlequino doesn't recommend the state run ENACO brand, "delisse". This is really poor quality coca. Same applies to "Herbi". The market leader "zurit" is unstable. apparently some pure mate de coca is adulterated ( Zurit, like ENACO, makes coca + other plant infusions, but mate de coca is normally 100% mate de coca). Lots of twigs in there, and not very strong, but sometimes ok (some years ago, Arlequino had pleasant surprises with Zurit). Old pacakging was yellow, new packaging is purple. Arlequino's current favorite is Wawasana, which is really nice. Good, pungent taste, strong coca. Has gone through a few boxes, and the last two were really superior quality. on Bolivian coca, Arlequino has less experience. He doesn't really recommend Windsor, the market leader. Has found this coca to be very weak. That said, Bolivian coca plants used are supposed to be different from Peruvian coca, with a different alkaloid makeup. Same goes for Lupi. MacMatte was the best bolivian brand Arlequino sampled. Apparently different grades of MacMatte mate de coca are now available, which would be really worth looking into. this is about as far as we can go on the subject. Would love to have info on other commercial brands ( caranavi, nasa esh, horniman), and brands from other countries-- but please be careful with the vendor association. If a brand is vendor exclusive, it cannot be discussed here. b |

Coca Brand experiences
SWIM has read a quick report with regards to someones experience with coca brands (tea, leaves, powder etc) but SWIM thought it might be nice to open it up to more people to see who finds what brand better/worse, stronger/weaker etc etc. SWIM knows it's all a personal preference but thought it might be interesting to see SWIY's opinions. Please be careful to discuss brands only and not vendors as the latter is against the forum rules. SWIM knows this has been touched on briefly in the middle of the crude extraction thread but felt it merited a thread of it's own. Coca users enlighten SWIus.

Re: Coca Brand experiences
Chewing coca leaves is affecting my eyesight! I apologise.
SWIM bought themself some leaves to try chewing but SWIM personally found them quite weak and SWIM also preferred the "teabag" method as it felt a bit easier to keep under control. At the same time SWIM also bought some superior tea bags after being told they were stronger than wawasana but again SWIM found them weak and they had a lot of twigs in them which really irritated SWIM's gums if the bags burst. SWIMs other half tried them and felt they were weaker than the Delisse ones SWIher had tried before. SWIMhad an old batch of Delisse bags that needed used up but noticed the smell between the 2 very different. The Delisse ones were quite Floral in scent compared to the pungent smell of other brand. So far Wawasana have cam out top of SWIMs testing althoug it is to be fair still a very narrow group at the moment. Last edited by Benga; 02-06-2009 at 22:35. |

Re: Coca Brand experiences
one has to keep in mind that it also depends on the batches used in the leaves, geographic origins and date of harvest come into play.
ENACO is the national Peruvian monopoly, and Delisse is its own brand, which critter has found to be rather bad quality. other companies are privately run and have to acquire leaves to make tea, which isn't always easy ( trucks get diverted or stolen by narcotrafficantes). critter has had a couple of great Zurit boxes but all others after were a letdown. had to edit out the references to one well known brand in swiyou's post as it's vendor exclusive. this brand varies a lot in batches, and sells different grades, which are indeed representative of qualitative variations, but unfortunatly not stable ones. a pungent smell is indeed usually a good indicator of coca taste and potency, as is the slight bitterness or taste, stronger taste being usually superior. twigs is a bad sign. Zurit has also been known to "cut" pure coca with other vegetable matters, not listed on the packet. yes, wawasana is also one of the critter's current favorite, along with the unamed brand's extra superior qualities, but they're expensive. b Last edited by Benga; 03-06-2009 at 09:40. |

Re: Coca Brand experiences
SWIM is sorry you had to edit the post. The reason SWIM popped the name onto the thread is because SWIM checked the dictionary definition of vendor and got -
vendor –noun 1. a person or agency that sells Based on this I found at least 3 different websites that sold the brand online and thought that this meant it could be named? Has SWIM made a mistake? Your points about geographic origins and date of harvest are very interesting as I didn't really think about this. Along with the pungent smell is the amount of numbing a sign of quality as sometimes SWIM does't get very much. Wonder if SWIM is building up a bit of a resistance with daily chewing? Ontop of that SWIYs unnamed brand is very interesting!

Re: Coca Brand experiences
the unamed brand is simply the same as yours.
the problem is vendor exclusivity. If one was to start brand X and sell it, then naming the brand is akin to naming the producer, and source. Where as if a widely distributed brand like zurit can be bought online, it can also be bought in supermarkets in some places, or shops in others. the websites are indeed different but operated by the same company, and even if they did start having other distributors, the staff consensus is that some of the mother company's commercial choices, and the fact that they pretty much only sell online, for export, make it a little to sensitive to mention here. on resistance, a tolerance does build, but is actually very stable through time. one grows more tolerants to effects compared to someone who does not chew and would subjectively feel stronger effects. the first experiences with chewing good coca felt much stronger indeed, euphoric and talkative. but after years, the critter still get strong effects from one gram of leaves, ie one teabag. it doesn't move, even if one chews 30 grams of coca a day, the next day a one gram chew will be felt. this is probably due gradual administration, which inhibits saturation, or to coca's complex alkaloid makeup. Re: Coca Brand experiences
Everyday is a school day - and again SWIM apologises for the use of a brand name under unsuitable circumstances. Also regards a point SWIY makes with only chewing one bag - SWIM was having a chew the other day and decided to start off with 10 bags as SWIM felt that the bags were weak - I know this isn't in keeping with the traditional practices etc but bear with SWIM as it is all still experimental for me. There was little numbing and after about 45 mins - SWIM Spat out the saliva but kept it in a glass (gross I know but all in the name of science) removed the 10 added another 8 and added back in the saliva (nearly puked as salty warm liquid not a pleasant experience even when not swallowing - no jokes please) kept these in for the same time - the numbing increased a bit and then topped up with another 4 after 30mins. Shortly after SWIM began feeling very paranoid so SWIM spat the whole lot out. But for the whole of that evening SWIM was feeling quite rattley and very moody. Even the next day didn't feel 100%. Has SWIY tried this sort of practice? and SWIM sees you talk of using one bag at a time - SWIM is guessing if you have good tea this is a sensible route that works well and stops saturation as you put it.

Re: Coca Brand experiences
Are we allowed to exchange vendor information through private messaging here on this site... Swim has attempted to purchase Peruvian coca tea from internet sources that sell multiple brands but has yet only received a Bolivian tea and was wondering which were most reputable vendors? Is waiting 25 - 30 days for delivery normal? What about 'cash on delivery'? Is swim overpaying? etc... Thank you and I understand if none of this can be answered.
cheers. |

Re: Coca Brand experiences
What level of numbness does SWIY get with chewing the one bag of tea. SWIM understands that this is a difficult one to answer but SWIM knows it's meant to be an indication of quality. The reason SWIM asks is that SWIM read a post about SWIanyone that got a really numb mouth chewing one bag of Wawasana?. The only time SWIM has had an extrmemly numb mouth was when SWIM done an isopropanol extraction on a bunch of leaves. The numbness was much like after being at the dentist, say 2 hours later (not completely numb but cold and funny to touch) and wait for it this was done using delisse bags. The amount of tar consumed would probably equal 5 bags. SWIM has never experienced anything very numbing by chewing.

Re: Coca Brand experiences
critter sprinkles half a teaspoon of sodium bicarb in the teabag.
and keeps the saliva for a while. the numbing effect from on gram of leaves is felt mostly around the contact points between the teabag and gums. not really comparable to a dental injection though. this is a little difficult to judge, and critter being a regular chewer he hardly notices the numbness, but enough to know when the chew is "activated". but other people, especially people who are not used to chewing coca are usually surprised by the numbness at first. |
