Oral use - Double dosing...

I dont want to throw down to much of a back story here but basicly swim uses quite a bit and has been noticing quite a strange trend when swim takes two doses in the same 24hr period.

swims first dose is usually at around 10:30 11:00 am of about 3-4 nice pods (ground to a fine powder and then consumed through the pod slurry technique). this results in a fine maybe 3/5 buzz (1/5 being slight effects and 5/5 being the highest pleasure before OD).

swims second dose is usually at around 5:00 6:00 pm after work of about 6-7 nice pods consumed in the same way. now this results in a 1/5 buzz! swim has no idea why this is happening but swims first dose is always nice and mellow and then swim takes a bigger dose and barely any effect!

any thoughts on why? maybe the pods are mostly codiene and the ceiling effect is coming into play? any other possibilities?!?!?!

Swim thinks maybe swiy's "receptors" are still "full" from the first dose and the second dose is mostly just going straight thru the body.

Thought nobody had read that there's a 400mg limit with codeine, after that your body simply pisses it out, but can't seem to find a source on that.

Happens to nobody too, just decided it was for the best, don't need to end up an addict.

Yep, 400mg . . its called the ceiling effect.

In this way Codeine can be considered a pro-drug for Morphine because it needs to be metabolized by the liver into Morphine at a rate of around 10% of the initial Codeine dosage.

Codeine having a ceiling effect @ 400mg would mean that it is limited to delivering a total of 40mg of Morphine to the system. In itself this can be high for a non-tolerant person but for someone whom is tolerant it would be a little bit of a yawn.

well now thanks for the replies but the only one that makes sense is the whole "receptor full" theorie, as swim has many many times in the past gotten quite a tollerance and have used well over the doses listed here to achieve very high states of mind. he doesnt think that the ceiling effect is to blame and if it was how long would it take to "reset" back to being able to process the codeine?

swim is going to try something. swim took his morning dose at around 4:30 in the morn and is about to take his second larger dose to see if the time will make any difference.

The reset is loose but is usually around 2 to 4 hours for the liver to process the Codeine.
One also did not think it was the ceiling effect in play but also does not think that the "receptors full" theory is right either.

A humans receptors can be flooded and flooded until overdose kills him / her, one does not think it would be possible to fill ALL receptors. If this were possible then it means that a human could become "immune" to opiates/opioids, Tolerant to the point where overdose would be impossible. Unfortunately this is not achievable.

This problem is definitely a brain tickler and will have SWIM thinking for a little while until the answer comes to him.

Perhaps it has something to do with temporary receptor up-regulation. It'll take more to improve your buzz because your receptors have adjusted to the neuro-chemical levels on the pods and then when you eat more you're just the levels back up to the level your brain has adjusted to. It's kinda like when you wake up and smoke a cigarette and get light-headed but after you've smoked a couple you don't get any noticeable effects at all.

Not to sure about that either because it is a long time between dosages. And the second dosage is nearly twice the dosage of the initial.

It seems to SWIM that a 6 to 8 hour gap between dosages would be more than enough time to eliminate any "morning cigarette" syndrome.

that makes sense as well but the time kinda makes it less likely. swim is almost thinking that he is no longer able to get high at home ( as the morning doses are taken at work).. this morn swims dose was only 3 pods with perfect effect. swim dosed 6 pods probably 45 mins ago at around 6:15 6:20 ( thats around a 13+ hour gap in doses) and yet swim feels less effects than the 3 this morn. it doesnt make swim feel good as he feels that all this is being done in vain. could this be a psychosomatic response to my home. although swims home is amazing! lovely clean comfortable nothing to complain about. also swim had experimented with lsa containing seeds (rivea corymbosa) and salvia this past week. these also could come into play somehow. although all use of these other compounds were stopped 3 days ago. not alot of effects were felt with either of these other substances. salvia is an opiod, kappa i think. this might, somehow, come into play.

one other thought.... the method of ingestion might have something to do with it. swim goes pod slurry so all the plant material is swallowed. could swims digestive system be overtaxed and just cant absorb the "nutrients"

this was alot of thoughts so just let me know what you think. thanks for your help gecko

Just an update. it seems that this situation was resolved by taking a few days of high dose multivitamin followed by a regular daily administration of said multivitamins. it would appear that swim was defficient in some sort of vitamin that made it hard for swims body to take pleasure in the second dose. dont know the mechanics, just glad it works!
