Converting to 16g
My pet walrus enjoys a bit of cream with his pies, and currently uses the 8g chargers in a 1/4 litre dispenser. He has recently found a dispenser head compatible with 16g cartridges, although it says it's only for use with 1L dispensers. Would he have any problem using it with his 1/4 litre dispenser?

Re: Converting to 16g
swim would suggest getting the bigger container for the 16 gram head just to be safe, although swim has never tried using it with the smaller bottle, although if swiy is on a budget he might be able to try it and see what happens.

Re: Converting to 16g
Thanks for the reply, +rep =) I'll let my walrus know, he's already ordered some 8g chargers but will try the 16g chargers on the next order.

Re: Converting to 16g
SWIM has heard of people double charging 1/4 litre dispensers, which in effect is filling them with 16g of nitrous, and they have lived to tell the tale.
However SWIM would not advise this because a dispenser blowing up and shooting out bits of sharp plastic at high velocity, would really put a downer on a nitrous trip, in addition to the other dangers such as loosing an eye or two. Peace Geezaman |

Re: Converting to 16g
Swim would prefer the larger dispenser in this case. The dispensers should be pretty overbuilt swim is thinking just to prevent lawsuits if they explode. Swim isn't sure but generally such a device would be considered a pressure vessel in the u.s. and need some sort of over pressure relief valve?
Swim looked at 16g products, but the 16g cartridges seemed to be quite a bit more than twice the price of the 8g so swim stuck with 8g. Johan73 added 2 Minutes and 38 Seconds later... Thinking more about it swim figures the dispensers are probably built to withstand the static pressure in the metal cartridges themselves at say room temperature, plus a healthy safety margin. Thus no matter how many cartridges swiy attemtped to charge the dispenser with, the pressure in the dispenser could never become higher than the pressure in the cartridge (except of course if the temperature is raised). Thus not requiring any sort of relief valve? Last edited by Johan73; 12-06-2009 at 17:55. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
