Nah SWIM generally has a crap time on alcohol he went round his mates last night and because he had to drive ended up sleeping there. SWIM drunk 4 litres of cider and some vodka on an empty stomach and ended up just puking his guts out for an hour and passing out. woke up feeling like shit covered in bruises (from where he'd bumped into things in his drunken stupour) was it worth it? no.

Swim used to use alcohol all the time as social lubricant when he was at school and college. Now, for some reason, he gets quite bored with just getting drunk unless there is something else. It just makes him feel tired, drowsy and makes straight thinking (and thus converstaions) hard, and swim swears that it never lasts as long as it used to. He finds that as soon as he stops drinking, within ten minutes he starts to sober up and gets tired.
However, for mixing with other stimulants or empathogens, alcohol is very nice swim finds. Its a bit like dope, a bit boring on its own but mixes very well with other substances.

My window drinks fairly regularly, but doesn't have any problems with the stuff. He's always able to pace himself, and so he gets some of the social lubricant benefits.

Its not his favourite drug, but he likes it for its ease of use, its taste and its social acceptability.

Drinking alcohol doesn't always mean having a good time, but it can certainly be a part of having a good time.

There is certainly a time and a place for alcohol, but swim thinks one has to be very careful with regular use. When a swimmer uses it too often they can end up believing they require alcohol to enjoy themselves in a social setting, psychological dependence is very common in swims country, most people love to drink and its ingrained in our culture so it seems to always play a part in any celebration or social gathering so its hard to avoid drinking if one wants to socialize. Many swimmers would not go out to a pub/club/bar if they werent drinking because watching people get pissed when they arent is not usually enjoyable.

I also agree, I am from the same country and drinking is the only form of socialising if one wants to go out. Many of swims friends don't drink so they refuse to come out to a pub/club because of the same reason. And most people are drinking from 14 upwards and just to get drunk ALL the time.

Personally swim finds alcohol very tiring. More so the drinking aspect than hangover, swim hates having to drink 2 or 3 bottles to feel anything because then of course its toilet time!

Then the next day because you're body can only digest 1 unit of alcohol per hour ones body is tired out and the next day is terribly lack lustre.

One does'nt need to drink alcohol to have a good tiime but it can help. Swim was brought up always drinking at parties ie. getting alochol was the party. Swim loves to drink but after 23 years of drinking(every day for the last 10-15) it is getting old. Swim wants to quit drinking so much (and has cut down) but cant seem to stop outright. Swim is now an alcoholic unfortunatly and is trying to quit at least during the week. So dont get into the mindset that one needs alochol to have a good time. the time one has is up to oneself. Alochol just goes along with the time your having, be that good or bad. Just swims opinion.

Drinking alcohol is not identical with having a good time. Obviously. However, drinking alcohol can often produce a good time, and, I fucking wish I hadn't been a responsible twat in town earlier and got myself some booze because I'd LOVE a drink right now.

Flying solo, its not that cool... at all...

but NO party would be the same without it.

nothing beats walkin around a tight party and having dudes stumblin everywhere, chicks just being ridiculous (sometimes this sucks though), and people dancing to music

it can make a good time,

but when somebody gets too drunk, or tries to drive, or starts fights for no apparent reason, then alcohol is pretty damn gay

What about the guy/girl there's always one who drinks far too much and ends up either crying and pouring out all their personal problems, making everyone feel uncomfortable or becomes so incoherant the party is ruined for one or two people because they have to sit there giving them water and making sure they don't choke on their own vomit.

SWIM always enjoys his alcohol no matter what.

He also knows his limits, and how to avoid over-drinking, a skill that I firmly believe has a strong impact on someone's capacity to enjoy alcohol.

The (coed) fraternity I'm in isn't dry, but we rarely have alcohol at our parties, I think mostly because the majority of members are Asian girls who flush beet red and pass out after a glass of wine. I have to say it is indeed possible to have a good time without alcohol, and really, if you can't have fun without drinking, you kind of suck. If your party needs to have alcohol to be fun, it's an epic fail.
I love my booze, and I drink like a fish, but I don't need it and I can think of other things to do at parties.

If you mean, does ahollo think that her drinking alcohol is having a good time, personally, no.
Ahollo, however, for years, did think she was having a good time, but it was one of those scenarios where ahollo didnt look further than her nose.

For ahollo, drinking alcohol mens literally one with a meal, or just before a meal.
She is not suited to the 'few drinks' type of way, which others may enjoy, and see as a good time.

SWIM prefers to get their kicks in ways other than ETOH.

SWIM doesn't like the next-day effects they suffer from the day after ETOH use. SWIM hasn't even had a drink since summer 2001.

swim LOVES the high and also alcohol seems to improve his sex drive so he'll actually flirt and dance with girls, swim also loves eating while intoxicated because it makes him eat like an animal, seriously.
overall, swim loves getting drunk, especially around girls.

but most of the time you feel like crap the day after (hangovers and nausea), and is fattening, so swim won't do much of it, especially when trying to stay in shape.

Swim has more fun on booze than cocaine, marijuana, and psychedelics. Amphetamines, opiates, and benzodiazepines are about tied...swim just likes being more social.

Boring and shallow, with not much to offer. SWIMs alcohol experiences, while making it easy to socialize, has never been truly enjoyable, normally swim is either not drunk enough or too drunk that swim just wants the experience to be over. The dose SWIM is after jsut doesn't exist, its too close to being blackout sick. This has led swim too think he has better molecules to spend his time shutting down parts of his brain to fit in and feel like he's loosened his tongue.
