Setting - Taking LSD at a bar for the first time?

Hi there, SWIM stated before I wrote this that he is aware that theres all kinds of posts like this but he would just like to add that everyone who posts things like this here are just looking for some conformation to make them feel safe

SWIM is getting some LSD this Friday from a friend who is going to be taking it at a bar and there is probably gonna be live music or a DJ set. SWIM wants to know if it would be safe to just dive in and take it at the bar with his friend?

He feels pretty confident about the whole thing and has been considering acid for about 3-4months now so he feels prepared.

Ofcourse its a very personal experience and it will effect every mind in a unique way, but you already know this. In retrospect for swim it was a very good idea to start off with a nice nature trip instead the "dive in" bar drop. Although later experience in clubs were a succes too. I guess it all boils down to what swiy is looking for. Swiy probably won't gain alot of the things acid has to offer, but it just might give him a great time (this is fine aswell). If swiy feels confident and really wants to use this setting I don't see a reason why not. Act safe and responsibly and it will be okay.

If it is SWIY's first time he/she may want to make sure that they are among very trusted friends. Also, if SWIY is dead set about dosing in a bar, see if SWIY can find out more about the bar(patrons, lighting, music, etc etc). If anything that SWIY finds out about the bar seems sordid, he/she may want to consider another alternative. SWIM says the most important thing to him was always being around those he trusted(although SWIY may not be as paranoid as SWIM).

Overall, SWIM himself prefers to dose LSD in a natural setting(the woods, lake, swamp, whatever). He finds that being with one or two close friends in these settings often leads to great moments in his life(or so he thinks). He says it is always a great way to clear all the cobwebs. SWIM hopes that SWIY has fun and would like to thank him/her for coming to the forum for advice instead of rushing into what could be a stressful situation without a knowledge of possible effects. Hey guys SWIM has been thinking about this and hes decided that this bar might be too unnatural a setting like you two have said.

SWIM is open to his parents about his drug use but he still wouldn't want to trip in the house while they are home so he proposes driving out to a little camping spot and just sleeping in the car. SWIM and his friend could take a walk outside and then return to the car later.

What do you think of this idea? Will SWIM be fit to drive after say 12 hours?

You might be, you might not be, best not to chance it. Putting your self in a situation where you HAVE to drive is risky. Since you don't know how it will effect you, you could be doing something foolish.

It's not only the drugs effects that could keep you from driving, but tripps can take an emotional toll, especially if they are hard. At that point you may be "sober" but exhausted, either physically or emotionally. Best to call a taxi or friend.

Camping is a good idea! Get a tent and lots of cosy sleeping bags, and lots of mary jane to tide the hours away. If its a small dose you will be relatively "sober" after 12 hours, but you will definitely be feeling after effects - especially your first time - and it would be highly inadvisable to take to the road. Plan for a comfortable night and things will go well, I probably wouldn't advise sleeping in your car, that could get a little uncomfortable...

Taking it in a bar sounds like a potentially disastrous idea. As does sleeping in a car and then driving it after only twelve hours. LSD is a potent psychedelic. Someone's very first experience with it can be mind-blowing and after twelve hours you could still be tripping, least of all you'll be exhausted. If you do go camping, do it when the weather is nice and make sure you have plenty of time to recover. Sleep somewhere comfortable, not in a car. LSD is a beautiful thing but as an experience it shouldn't be rushed. For a first-timer the best setting is a private house preferably with a nice garden and being in good company with no risk of troublesome interference until the effects have worn off and you have rested up. It should be a weekend plan, not something that can be squeezed into a few hours. Experienced hardheads may be able to handle this but a novice tripper shouldn't take the risk.

Hey, SWIM is very thankful for the advice and is re-considering everything... He will now just obtain the LSD and leave it for a sunny day. If next Thursday turns out to be sunny SWIM may go camping around 11.00am and not leave till sometime Friday morning around 9.00pm or 10.00pm.

Say SWIM takes the LSD at 12.00pm after the 12 hours he will goto sleep and then hopefully get 9-10 hours sleep before driving home. SWIM will also bring plenty of food and water to keep his energy levels up.
