Smoking - Scraping Smack/Crack Pipes

My housemates are all heroin and crack users who smoke off of pipes (usually made of miniture Martell bottles, or small metal pipes with a piece of wire wool in the end as a gauze).

Now, when totally out of gear, they all scrape out their pipes in different ways.

The person who lives in my room likes to heat up the pipe (either with a lighter, putting it over the hob briefly, or putting it in front of an electric heater for a few minutes) and then wipe the gauze all over the slightly molten, sticky heroin residue.

Other housemates just grab a long, pointy, sharpish object and keep scraping at the residue until they get a small pile of black powder, then stick it back on the pipe to smoke.

The reason they all prefer pipes to smoking off foil (they'd prefer to smoke rather than inject for the obvious health reasons) because so much smoke seems to get wasted when smoked olff foil, and it just feels like a much bigger hit. They find a pipe of heroin feels like the power of smoking a cigarette, but smoking off foil whilst still just about giving the desired effect, it feels a lot weaker and more gets wasted.


Anyway. Out of the 2 ways of pipe scraping, which do people find to be more effective, and what household items make the best scrapers. The person who lives in my room finds a skrewdriver to be the best to use, yet others find a skewer better to make scrape off power. At the minute, the one skrewdriver in our house, and the one skewer have gone missing (or are hidden in one housemate's room which is locked and he's away on a business trip). So currently they're using the end of a coat hanger, which seems less effective in both methods, as it is not as sharp as either and is not completely straight.


Any help would be appreciated, especially as there is a lot of residue left on most the pipes in the house at the minute, and with rent due on Monday, lots of us will struggle to score, in particular the guy who lives in my room was expecting half a month's wages to come in on Friday (he was sacked on the 31st December, payday was 21st December, so he expected to be paid at least until the end of the month, but actually the December pay day was for 1st December until 31st December).


I know this is fairly long and I hope it all makes sense. I know my housemates don't really smoke heroin in the "normal" method, but they have found other than injecting, this seems to be the most effective method we can find.

Swim has spent many, many, many hours of her life doing this so hopefully she can be some help on the matter.

As for the first way swiy suggested of sticking the gauze into the pipe (after heating) and swirling it around, this is an effective method (obviously) but swim finds it is not the best way to get the most out of what’s in the pipe. When swim would favour this way is if she is short of time as it can be done vastly quicker than way two. Depending on how much residue was in the pipe in the first place swim should still get a pretty decant hit this way and swiy and their friends should be able to do it a number of times before the gauze has had it.

As for way two, sitting scraping the pipe with a tool, swim would say this is defiantly the best way to get the most out of what is left in the pipe. It does however take a lot of time and swim advises that the person doing it does bother to sit and take the time to do it properly if wanting the best hit off it. Some tips for this swim has are before swiy starts to scrape the pipe is to blow into it a few times with swiy's finger over the end of it and the gauze taken out. This can be more effective with cigarette smoke however just warm breath should be good enough as well. Swim finds this makes the residue collected on the pipe come off A LOT easier.

As for instruments swim finds it is really down to personal choice but the best thing that swim ever found was the end of a broken off radio antenna, never found anything that beats that yet! Swim can see a coat hanger being pretty awkward and would suggest something thinner and easier to manoeuvre. Swim believes a screwdriver as long as it’s pretty small should work just fine. The only thing swiy really needs to remember when picking out an instrument to do this is to make sure it’s not going to collect the residue in it, therefore making swiy lose some of their takings.

The last tip that swim has in her is if crack and heroin is being smoked out of the same pipe or bottle the residue is much stickier and really just not as enjoyable and if two separate pipes are used (one for each.) Swim found this to be so much better than the two mixed together, not only were both easier to get the residue off of (especially the crack) but the two separate hits were better two. Swim also found that smoking H off the pipe destroyed it faster and make it have a different unpleased or at least more unpleasant taste, having the two separate also helped this.

SWIM uses a rolled up piece of tinfoil to chase off a piece of foil when smoking heroin. He might use the same foil pipe to smoke 5-10grams of heroin before opening it up. Depending on how careless/stoned he has been while using the pipe, there will be a considerable amount of H to be smoked from this residue. The residure from vaporised H isn't as nice as bits of melted gear that get caught while smoking (dipping the pipe in the gear by mistake, nodding head...oops) but it is somethig all the same.

These pipes have saved my life on numerous occasions. If you have a good supply of gear SWIM could accumalte 5 or 6 pipes before having to use them. That could be a couple of grams right there!

SWIM loves to smoke the 'toot' and finds the H is nice and pure as for scraping pipes, don't like it and finds it a waste.

When swim was a crack user, he would heat the glass just to make it warm, so the residue would become liquidy, and then push the wire mesh through the pipe and smoke from the opposite end. This could be done a couple of times back and forth. Swim would recommend compressing the mesh first though, as it can become loose. Turning the mesh as it is pushed through the pipe also helps to get more off the walls.

SWIM was planning on sticking to his methadone script this week so he has found himself w/out gear and his dealers phone is off. SWIM has a nice tooter here which he was supposed to keep for the mornin but upon inspecting it it was too hard not to smoke! Got a nice smoke off it too, not just residue, but about 20 nice runs off it. How bad
Took 40mls of phi at 5pm, and SWIM will take another 20ml in the morning. Heres hoping it holds him.
