Altered States and Jacob's Ladder, definitely two of the most amazing movies ever. Haha I think Altered States is what made me want to do psychedelics. Fear and Loathing is amazing too.

Trainspotting and Dazed and Confused are good as well, but not as amaaaaazing as Altered States and Jacob's Ladder.

Oh, and Kids. For weed, but also in a way for sex as a drug. Same with Ken Park. Harmony Korine is great. Bully is also good, has a lot of weed, and Telly from Kids is in it.

so altered states isnt too intese and it wont make me freak out? Im planning on just staying home tonight and watching movies, probably just smoke. The cover of it just kinda freaks me out a bit.

BTW i just looked at the reviews and description of jacobs ladder and it looks pretty intense too. I think ill try on Altered States tonight, and of course fear and loathing and maybe some others. Hell, dazed and confuzed sounds nice as well. Well time to hit the video store.

I read through this whole thing and not one person mentioned one of the
greatest movies of all time...A Clockwork Orange.....they were drinking
drug laced milk.

A Clockwork Orange
A Clockwork Orange - Trailer
A Clockwork Orange_.jpg
Year: 1971
Genre: Thriller
Director: Stanley Kubrick
Cast: Malcolm McDowell
Michael Bates
Drugs used: Drug Laced Milk
Tagline: Being the adventures of a young man ... who couldn't resist pretty girls ... or a bit of the old ultra-violence ... went to jail, was re-conditioned ... and came out a different young man ... or was he ?

Alex and his three droogs, live in a futuristic Britain void of proper law and civil protection. They do drugs, drink, skip school, and wreak havoc during the night. They beat up an old drunkard, steal cars, rape helpless women, and start gang fights in the streets. Alex, being a rather arrogant leader, is rude and disrespectful towards his other droogs, and because of this they plot behind his back against him. In their plan to rob a woman on the outskirts of town, Alex enters the house alone to unlock the door for the other. When confronted by the owner of the house he strikes her in the head in attempt to knock her out. Meeting his droogs outside he is met with a bottle being smashed over his own head, stunning him long enough for the cops to finally arrive and arrest him. It turns out the woman he struck inevitably ended up dieing from the blow and Alex now finds himself with a 14 year prison sentence. In hopes of severely shortening his sentence, Alex signs up for a new breakthrough treatment that "cures" criminals of their want to do evil. The Ludovico treatment, as it is called, consist of Alex living a very high lifestyle while twice daily being subjected to gory and hateful films full of all that is considered wrong and evil. Part of Alex's diet contains a special drug that causes him to slowly get sick as he is forced to watch these films. After a short period of time he is shown as being cured and when, in front of a small audience, he is subjected to another bullying man and a beautiful woman, he is unable to fight back or do what he would like to do, and instead is utterly paralyzed with sickness. The process stripped him not only of his evil, but more importantly and symbolically stripped him of his right to think and be free and live the life he wishes to. After being released from prison and kicked out of his home he is taken in by small group of people who want to get Alex's pitiful story out to the public to attempt to harm the current regime in time for the next election. During this process, Alex attempts suicide and fails, but because of this the doctors of the original Ludovico treatment set out to cure him. Alex awakes from his coma cured of the sickness and is finally able to think and do what he wishes again. Written by Walker Parkhill

Protogonist Alex is an "ultraviolent" youth in futuristic Britian. As with all luck, his eventually runs out and he's arrested and convicted of murder and rape. While in prison, Alex learns of an experimental program in which convicts are programed to detest violence. If he goes through the program his sentence will be reduced and he will be back on the streets sooner than expected. But Alex's ordeals are far from over once he hits the mean streets of Britian that he had a hand in creating. Written by Nikki Carlyle

Farewell My Concubine is not about drugs, but there are a lot of scenes of doing opium and one of the plot twists is an opium addiction.

"Farewell, My Concubine" is a movie with two parallel, intertwined stories. It is the story of two performers in the Beijing Opera, stage brothers, and the woman who comes between them. At the same time, it attempts to do no less than squeeze the entire political history of China in the twentieth century into a three-hour time-frame. Written by Michael Kim {leda@imsa.edu}

human traffic and salton sea are two of my favorites.

I remember watching a b grade movie where some chick gives this square dude (i think its the same guy who played ferris beuler) sugar cubes with 6000 micrograms of lsd on them. He eats them and gets stuck on a permanent trip then sees a quack who injects him with some antidote. i cant remember anything else other than it being american. I know its a dodgy description but i am hoping someone knows the name of it.

I have like a lot of drug movies bu they have allbeen listed except for one.

Sharky's Machine
-
Sharky(Burt Reynolds)is a narcotics cop in Atlanta who, while chasing a dealer, gets involved in a shootout that doesn't please the top brass. As a result, he's sent down to the Vice division, which he considers the lowest rung on the ladder. There, he gets involved with the investigation of a double murder of a blind
prostitute and her "john". Sharky then assembles his fellow investigators (his "machine") to ferret out the murderer, and he finds out that a powerful mobster & power broker named Victor Score is behind the murder, and they set out to gather info by staking out the apartment of his #1 hustler, a $1,000 dollar-per-night prostitute named Dominoe (Rachel Ward's first feature movie). The hitman strikes again, and soon he's going after Sharky, who takes Dominoe into custody for her safety and to help him nail Victor, but Victor has plenty of accomplices, including one deep within.
THe hitman uses PCP and painkillers. It was a really cool movie because I live in the ATL and it let see what the city looked like 20 years ago(totally different

In the depths of this lowly division, while investigating a high-dollar prostitution ring, Sharky stumbles across a mob murder with government ties, and responds by assembling his downtrodden fellow investigators (Sharky's "machine") to find the leaders and bring them to justice before they kill off all his partners and witnesses, including Sharky himself. I'm surprised nobody's mentionned Yellow Submarine. Gawd.

The Beatles - Yellow Submarine
The Beatles - Yellow Submarine - Trailer
Yellow Submarine_.jpg
Year: 1968
Genre: Animation
Director: George Dunning
Cast: The Beatles
Drugs used: ?
Tagline: The forces of good! The forces of evil!

The singing group, The Beatles, at the height of their popularity, made this cartoon of a land that is taken over by the Blue Meanies. They are recruited by an escapee to come and bring joy (and music) back to the land. The techniques are quite psychedelic in the cartoons and much care was taken to have the walks and mannerisms of the individual Beatles cartoons match the originals. Written by John Vogel {jlvogel@comcast.net}

The Beatles are spirited away in the eponymous yellow submarine to save Pepperland from the dreaded Blue Meanies. Along the way, the singing saviors encounter a surreal feast for both the eyes and ears: phantasmagorical creatures, outrageous landscapes, and colors that throb and vibrate to each and every Beatle song on the soundtrack. It's a drug-free, hallucinogenic journey for the armchair tripper, the peak of which is undoubtedly (and not surprisingly) the "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" sequence. An incredible film experience at all levels, "Yellow Submarine" manages to capture exquisitely and in visual form the beauty and madness of the incomparable Beatles. And to think 1968 also included Kubrick's "2001!" Written by alfiehitchie

This film charts the rise and fall of Yuri Orlov, from his early days in the early 1980s in Little Odessa, selling guns to mobsters in his local neighbourhood, through to his ascension through the decade of excess and indulgence into the early 90s, where he forms a business partnership with an African warlord and his psychotic son. The misadventures of Mickey and Mallory: outcasts, lovers, and serial killers. They travel across Route 666 conducting psychadelic mass-slaughters not for money, not for revenge, just for kicks. Glorified by the media, the pair become legendary folk heroes; their story told by the single person they leave alive at the scene of each of their slaughters. Written by Murray Chapman {muzzle@cs.uq.oz.au}

Delivery boy Mickey Knox falls in love with customer Mallory Wilson. He soon helps her kill her abusive father and enabling mother, beginning their macabre journey down Route 666. Their M.O.: every few miles, they attack everyone within their site, invariably leaving only one person alive to tell the tale. The two are made famous by unscrupulous reporter Wayne Gale, as they run across the countryside, pursued by the equally sadistic Jack Scagnetti. Just before the trial, a ratings-whoring interview by the same reporter who made them famous leads to pandemonium, not just within the prison itself, but nationwide. A satire of the media, public opinion, and the modern attitude toward violence. Written by T. Brendan Leahy

The Football Factory
The Football Factory - Trailer
football factory_.jpg
Year: 2004
Genre: Drama
Director: Nick Love
Cast: Danny Dyer
Frank Harper
Drugs used: Cocaine
Tagline: What else you gonna do on a Saturday?

The Football Factory is more than just a study of the English obsession with football violence, its about men looking for armies to join, wars to fight and places to belong. A forgotten culture of Anglo Saxon males fed up with being told they're not good enough and using thier fists as a drug they describe as being more potent than sex and drugs put together. Shot in documentery style with the energy and vibrancy of handheld, The Football Factory is frightingly real yet full of painful humour as the four characters extreme thoughts and actions unfold before us. Waking Life
Waking Life - Trailer
Waking Life0_.jpg
Year: 2001
Genre: Animation
Director: Richard Linklater
Cast: Trevor Jack Brooks
Wiley Wiggins
Drugs used: ?

Dreams. What are they? An escape from reality or reality itself? Waking Life follows the dream(s) of one man and his attempt to find and discern the absolute difference between waking life and the dreamworld. While trying to figure out a way to wake up, he runs into many people on his way; some of which offer one sentence asides on life, others delving deeply into existential questions and life's mysteries. We become the main character. It becomes our dream and our questions being asked and answered. Can we control our dreams? What are they telling us about life? About death? About ourselves and where we come from and where we are going? The film does not answer all these for us. Instead, it inspires us to ask the questions and find the answers ourselves. Written by Jeff Mellinger {jmell@uclink4.berkeley.edu}

This is the story of a boy who has a dream that he can float, but unless he holds on, he will drift away into the sky. Even when he is grown up, this idea recurs. After a strange accident, he walks through what may be a dream, flowing in and out of scenarios and encountering various characters. People he meets discuss science, philosophy and the life of dreaming and waking, and the protagonist gradually becomes alarmed that he cannot awake from this confusing dream adventure. Director: Kevin Bray
Cast: Dwayne Johnson
Johnny Knoxville
Drugs used: Cocaine
Tagline: One man will stand up for what's right.

After eight years serving the U.S. Army Special Forces, Sergeant Chris Vaughn returns to his hometown seeking for a job in the local mill. He is informed by Sheriff Stan Watkins that the mill was closed six months ago and now the Wild Cherry Casino, owned by his former high school friend Jay Hamilton, is the major source of jobs and income to the town. Chris goes home, and meets his best-friend Ray Templeton, who organized a football game with their friends. After the game, Jay invites Chris and his friends to spend the night in his casino on him, but when Chris finds that the casino stick-man is cheating with the dices, he fights against the security men and is almost killed by them. When his nephew Pete has an OD with amphetamines sold by the security men of the casino, Chris realizes that the town is dominated by the mobsters and the corrupt sheriff and with a huge piece of wood, he breaks the casino and the criminals. He is prosecuted and in the trial, he promises to the jury and to the population that if he is considered non-guilty, he would be candidate to the sheriff position and clean the town. Later, Sheriff Chris Vaughn has to fight against the organized crime to keep his promise. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

When a former member of the U.S. Army Special Forces returns to his small hometown in rural Washington State hoping to realise a childhood dream of working in the local lumber mill, he discovers that much has changed, as the normally tranquil town is now besieged by drugs, outbreaks of violence and a general feeling of malaise and terror, with many pointing a finger at the influence of a crooked casino where his ex-girlfriend now works as a dancer. Seeking to wreak vengeance, with a four-foot-long 4-by-4 in his hand, and righteousness in his heart, the highly-trained soldier, now the county's sheriff, and his deputy, realizes it's time to bust some heads with a very hard piece of wood.
