Cleaning PST with Household Items

So swim was thinking about poppy seed tea the other day. He knows he hates the taste and usually isn't worth choking down. He figured he would defat with a nonpolar solvent. Then he had a thought, what about cooking oil? Would mixing the PST with cooking oil and then separate using a makeshift sep funnel effectively remove all the nasty oils or is cooking oil not a good enough solvent?
