Re: joint question
Tobacco and weed is mixed into a joint in order to preserve weed and allow the joint to smoke more evenly. Pure weed joints tend to burn sideways or go out pretty quickly. That said, there's nothing wrong with making a pure weed joint if one were that way inclined.

Re: joint question
A pure weed joint will go out quite alot, so you will need to keep lighting it, Although swim finds joints without tobacco are alot easier on the throat/lungs, so he tends to cough less.
Also since you'd be using more weed thanif you mixed with tobacco, you should get more THC into your blood, and may feel more stoned |

Re: joint question
There is no need whatsoever to mix tobacco in with cannabis, provided you are using plant matter or keef and not hash. Some bearded dude on the street mentioned that he has smoked hundreds of joints without any tobacco in them, and really has seen little problem with it. When smoking hash the situation may be somewhat different, as there may be a need to supply some "body" to the cigarette, which the hash could not provide on its own. Tobacco is not specifically required; this could equally well be provided by another smoking herb. The bearded guy does not have as much experience with hash as with cannabis, but is not entirely convinced that smoking hash on tobacco is necessary, or the best way to smoke it.
Yes, straight cannabis plant material does not burn quite as evenly as cigarette tobacco. This is not really a problem at all. Cannabis burns just fine on its own, although differently from cigarettes. The difference is likely due to the lack of additives for burning found in cigarettes, such as saltpeter, and to the irregular particle size of hand-shredded cannabis. That bearded guy actually had some cannabis with saltpeter added a few times. He found it noticeably different, but not really better at all. Generally a cannabis-only joint will go out if not smoked off of for a minute or more, however this is not really a problem for most people, as cannabis is expensive and there isn't much sense in letting it burn if no one is smoking it. Plant material to be rolled should be finely broken up (as finely as possible, generally), and the joint should be rolled tightly, but loose enough to allow an easy pull. The quality of rolling paper used will effect the burning properties of the joint. Experiment with papers a bit until you find one that works for you. If rolling papers aren't readily available, Bible paper is a very good approximation. It is standard practice in the United States (at least the part that bearded dude is from) to roll joints with marijuana only: it is quite exceptional for people to include tobacco there. When this does happen, it's mostly people who have lived in Europe and got used to it! Even cigarette smokers don't add tobacco. It would not be terribly surprising for an American cannabis user to go many years without ever seeing a tobacco-blended joint. In one pot smoker's experience, most American cannabis users would be surprised (and quit possibly offended) if they hit what they thought was a joint and found it to contain tobacco. As for extending one's cannabis supply, that bearded guy mentioned that he strongly prefers other herbs to tobacco for combining with his pot. He makes his own simple blend: he uses two parts peppermint, one part lavender, and one part chamomile. The dried herbs are ground in a kitchen mortar and pestle, and combined with the cannabis as needed, at the time of rolling. This blend may also be smoked with tobacco, or without either cannabis or tobacco. Smoked alone, mint/lavender/chamomile provides a lovely taste, and a pleasant, relaxing feeling which lasts about ten minutes. That being said, if someone is tobacco smoker and finds they prefer including tobacco in their joints, go for it! Each person has to find what works best for them and their smoking companions, and do it way. Hope this helps! |

Re: joint question
Swim finds smoking a joint with tobacco makes the joint burn evenly no side burning, Plus it wont go out and not as much of a waste, you only need a tiny bit, Swim usually puts a small amount of tobacco then the herb then a tiny bit on top, To Swim thats the perfect joint but it depends on what swiy likes.
