Health - Smoking shotties through a canny

When swim was much younger he used to smoke weed through a homemade pipe made from beer cans. You would just roll up the metal put it in a bottle and use it as a shotty (or shottie?), which is when you use tobacco as the bong piece and just put the weed ontop of that, burn the lot and then toke it all down the pipe and into the liquid at the bottom of the bottle. Then you can stack it agan and again very quickly without having to clean the bong each time. Not for people with weak lungs, most people cough their guts up the first few times until their lungs harden to it. Once they have hardened, they can be very addictive as the quick and large bacci rush you get from it eventually becomes a very enjoyable experience.

I was just wondering how bad this is, because I'm sure that some of the metals and chems that are in some beer cans are not too healthy for you. Swim and co used this method for about two years continually, as they found that you tend to get much more stoned this way and could usually use half as much as you would in spliffs.

Should I be concerned about what was in the homemade pipes? Can anyone think of any toxic chemicals that could have been released by heating the metal up directly with the flame? The only thing swim did notice was that when he used them really often at a rate of about 30-40 shotties a day for a month or so he would get a tickly cough that would come and go for months at a time.

I used to do these all the time! Is swiy from the UK? Swim is from south england, and I think that shotties are mainly popular in britain. Used to called them either shotties or shotguns. I can also totally relate to you saying that they are addictive, I found that even when swim quit weed he would crave for the sudden rush that shotties gave. In fact he would sometimes just stack the shottie with bacci and leave the weed out when he was craving for one but trying to stop is weed habits. I think that its the bacci rush from the shottie thats the addictive bit, not the weed.

And I dont have a clue whether the metal beer cans are made of is dangerous to smoke through. Maybe if it was aluminium, or tin, but I dont know how dangerous either is practically.

Swim used to do these all the time when he was a kid, 'cept here in the great white north we called them "bots", and usually used hash instead of bud. He used to carry around a metal pen casing as a disguised bowl specifically for this purpose.

Fun Fact: "shotgun" up here means to blow smoke directly from a pipe/joint into someone else's mouth. It can also refer to the choke hole on a bong/pipe.

The initial hit into the system will give an amazing head rush. Tingly limbs, loss of vision, loss of balance, inability to speak, sometimes vomiting. After that no other is as powerful untill the body has processed and recovered. Soda, beer, or energry drink cans CAN be used, but the metals are harmful and the coatings get melted, and inhaled. Use glass or metal tubes. Be creative, hardware stores, devices, tea pots, dollar store are great places to find them.

As for only the baccy in a shottie/yotti/dazer, people sometimes do that if they are addicted to the tobacco portion of the shotti, which can be very common. They are powerful and very efficient, but beware that the tobacco will get a person addicted.
