Using Restoril to ease WD's

SWIM has been an addict for about 3 maybe 4 years, never IV'd. SWIM has been having alot of money problems lately and has decided to stop paying for H (easier said than done right). SWIM usually takes suboxone when he detoxes but cannot get any at the moment, so he decided to take some restoril, which is a new benzo used for sleep. SWIM isnt a fan of benzo's, they make SWIM act a fool and are a seperate addiction in themselves. SWIM has found that Restoril (Temazepam) is different however. According to the doctor, it is a new intermediate benzo, and it feels noticeably different than Xanax or Valium. It doesn't make SWIM act up, and doesn't mess with SWIM's memory, SWIM can actually remember what he did while on it. And it helped SWIM go to sleep. Not exactly a wonder drug, but it helped wonderfully. Just thought I'd share, has anyone else taken this for withdrawals? What are yalls opinions on benzo's to detox in general?

Re: Using Restoril to ease WD's

Temazepam is a sleeping pill whats benzo related.. Swim was on them 16 years ago and it did help him sleep !! Keep in mined any benzodiazipine and its related compounds are addictive, but if it helps with swiy with heroine withdrawal then that might be a good thing. If taken on a daily bases over a long time then swiy will get addicted to temazepam.

SWIM agrees about the addiction part. You were perscribed to restoril 16 years ago? Hmm, I was under the impression it was a new drug on the market. Learn something new every day right?

Re: Using Restoril to ease WD's

Swim has used them to try and get her through WD's from heroin before. Swim found they did help a little, swim was just using them to get her to be asleep as much as she could manage so she didnt have to go through them as much. Swim found this worked at the start but she built up a tolerance to the VERY fast like by the end of day two 6 wasnted even getting her to sleep when one worked fine the first time!

Also agree with what said above they are very addictive and it is even more of a risk taking them in the way that swim did (as much as she could to not be concious through the WD's) because that way a lot is taken, therefor increasing the tolorance and swim is inclined to take more and if someone is addicted to heroin then its very likley they have an addictive personality and so it would be really easy to just swap the one addiction for another. This is done over and over by addicts and anyone taking it under thoes circumstances should be very carefull or just not risk taking it at all.
