SWIM used to get an awesome high from ativan, but after a while of taking it SWIM doesnt get lifted from it. What benzodiazepines are stronger than ativan?

Re: Stronger than Ativan
What would SWIY recommend for SWIM in achieving a high from benzos though?

Re: Stronger than Ativan
Red Rock would recommend that one stop taking benzodiazepines for a while until their tolerance drops back down. How much has SWIY been taking of the Lorazepam and not getting high? What is SWIY's frequency of use of the Lorazepam?

Re: Stronger than Ativan
SWIM was taking about two .5mg tablets daily.

Re: Stronger than Ativan
It's more likely than not this could cause tolerance. I'd suggest this person take a break for at least a week, and not take the Ativan more frequently than every other day. I don't suggest anyone switch to a different benzo. Trying to go for something stronger (or taking more of the same) when the problem is tolerance is only making things worse.

Re: Stronger than Ativan
Impossible to say with any certainty what would be stronger for SWIY. With that being said, take this with a grain of salt: SWIM has seen numerous sources indicating that Klonopin is a strong Benzodiazepine.

Re: Stronger than Ativan
Alprazolam is the strongest swim thinks.
Or swiy could take a higher dose of lorazepam swim doesn't want to give bad advice but .5mg isn't a high dose.(for recreational use) This doesn't mean swiy has to go over the top but taking a little more would help... Or the best option would be stop for a few weeks and take the normal dose, this is the better option !! |

Re: Stronger than Ativan (Lorazepam)
xanax (alprazolam) and klonopins (clonazepam) are the 2 strongest benzos commonly prescribed in the states (theres stronger ones but there use is mostly limited to help with anesthia), ativan (lorazepam) is pretty weak, well not as weak as valium (diazepam) and a bunch of others. also 1mg of ativan is a really low dose, thats basically the recommened dose unless swiy has a dickhead doctor who only prescribes .5's, swim isnt recommending abusing prescription meds esp potentially addictive ones like benzos, but if swiy is hell-bent on seeking a high from them take a couple mg.'s say 3-4, benzos are incredibly safe (they dont effect the receptors in ones brain that control breating unless taking in extremly massive quanitys or mixed with other cns depressants) as long as their not taking w/other cns depressants like alcohol, barbituates, opiates, ect.
heres a link to a benzo comparison chart, it compares strength, duration of action, and some other intersting stuff- http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/loc...id=129&id=7287 Last edited by Jatelka; 26-06-2009 at 20:23. |

Re: Stronger than Ativan (Lorazepam)
The equivalent dosage is not even close to exact. It is mainly used for calculating dosage for developing a withdrawal program.
i.e. a site may report triazolam and alprazolam as having the same mg to mg strength, but that doesn't mean that the same amount produces the same level of hypnotic effect. Triazolam is much more potent at the same dose. Likewise, the size of a normal dose is not an indicator of how strong a medication is. It's just that each has a different mg per dose. |

Re: Stronger than Ativan (Lorazepam)
Benzos don't really make you 'high'. They're sedatives. They make you sleepy. Until you build up a tolerance to them, at which point they just make you need to keep taking them in order to avoid withdrawals.
What's stronger than lorazepam? Midazolam or nitrazepam. What's a good strategy for someone who has been taking benzos with such frequency that they produce almost no effect anymore? Quit. Not all at once, but slowly. Reduce the dose over several days until SWIY is taking none, and stay off them for a while. Then re-evaluate why SWIY is taking them in the first place. |
