New user take heed
Swim has been on Percs prescribed for pain for 2 years at 40 to 60 mg daily without interruption. He had never before used opiates. The pills gave hiim a kind of peace of mind and body he had never before experienced. Swim now finds that the opiate bonus feelings have shrunk. Without Swim's pills he feels miserable, in a lot of mental and physical pain worse than before he started the pills. It has reached the stage where Swim refuses to get the surgical treatment that would elmniate the pain because then the Doctor wouldn't give him a script. He is afraid to change doctors although he feels his current doctor is incompetent. The womb of Percs has become a dungeon.
New User the price you may pay for the relief of your pain might be worse than the pain itself. The reward is great but the price for the reward is high. I regret ever starting this trip but I still love the pill-peace and am willing to pay the price. Ask yourself, "Am I willing to pay it?" |

Re: New user take heed
Hopefully SWIY has had labs done to check their liver function. If not SWIM would highly recomend doing so.As for not having surgery the reason you stated really isn't a good one comming from a Chronic Pain Patient's point of view.SWIY might have surgery and at least get some relief from PN but still has enough PN that they need meds.If you really look at it it is a bad situation that can be fixed. No one can tell SWIY how bad their PN is(including SWIY's Dr.) only SWIY knows the truth. There really is no reason to live in unnecessary PN,although I'm not saying that surgery will fix SWIY's problem.Good Luck!!!

Re: New user take heed
Well if you feel like your use has gone out of control then maybe you should get some help.Opioid addiction is really hard to break without the proper help and it can ruin your life.As mekone suggested, you should really get you liver checked and although I don't know how much APAP you're consuming, I'm assuming it's above the recommended daily dose.
Good luck, Robo |

Re: New user take heed
yeah, swim wonders why swiys doctor hasnt switched to something like oxycontin that has no acitaminophen in it if swiys dose is that high. as everyone has said thats gotta be harsh on swiys liver.
But as far as addiction goes, swim knows all to well how swiy feels, and swim agrees wholehartedly. Playing with opiates is like playing with fire. a little bit can be real fun but start getting careless and you will get burned! so to all new users and users who are not physically dependant on opiates, please be careful!! tolerance and physical dependance are an absolute nightmare. Dont start taking opiates every day! for a while, almost a month, or even more, you can get away with that with no physical dependance, and you will feel like your pretty slick. You will be getting super high and have no pain or worries in the world. That all changes soon though eventually you will end up like swim taking doses that would kill an avarage person just to feel ok, and when you dont have them, you will be sick off your ass. swim wouldnt wish this on her worst enemys! so be careful fellow swimmers. |

Re: New user take heed
swim knows where you are coming from. Of course swim is a chronic pain patient and has been for 4 years. swim feels miserable with or without the pills. Only because swim has been on them for quite some time and it seems as if even with surgery there is no end in sight. The day swim was injured was the day swim's life was in a downward spiral pain wise.
Now as for the relief not getting better. Your tolerance to opiates raises the longer you are on them. Also, as a pain doc explained to me, the opiates throw your pain receptors off. So the longer you use them, the more pain you will be sensitive to. It takes a while for those receptors to get back on line after quitting using opiates all together. Now swim was on percs for 2 years and was using the max of 12 pills a day. swim developed apap toxicity from it and was hospitalized. Swim was SO sick and was miserable for a while even with my pills. (which is why swim asked that liver be checked) Well swim was then put on dilaudid. Swim had to take 12-14 4mg pills to get any relief and then swim was so sick from that and developed a high tolerance and it didn't work after 2 months. Then a doc that I was put in touch with gave swim oxycontin 80mg 3 times a day and swim has been dealing well with the pain. It is a miracle drug. Of course OXY is dangerous if it's abused and swim has shot it or snorted it a few times but that was no fun and just wasted swims stuff. So get your liver checked and just wanted to say swim hears you. Swim knows where your coming from but from a pain relief stand point if surgery will bring some relief its worth it in my eyes...unless its back surgery. I will never let anyone touch my back like that. A doctor's father, who was a doc, told me that. NEVER let a surgeon touch your back unless it is life or death or a matter of walking/not walking. Its a 50/50 chance that it'll work. |

Re: New user take heed
I don't understand in the above posts, surely your doctors wouldn't let you consume so much APAP, why wouldn't they prescribe you straight oxy? As far as I am concerned its criminal to put APAP with oxy. Let face it they don't really do it to help with the pain, they do it to punish evil doers who misuse their medication by destroying their livers. Its the same with panadeine. Its not medicine to sacrifice the few who will destroy their livers to get the codeine, in the name of deterring the others who won't misuse the codeine.
