Smoking - need tar detox advice

I have been smoking tar on and off for over a year and a half, I was able to taper when I went on vacation to visit my family out of necessity, but this time hasn't been as easy on me. I am smoking about a half a gram a day of what is probably pretty bad black tar, and I need to stop, for monetary reasons, I don't want to lose my job, I want to enjoy more than just doing nothing all day, etc. I have been thinking that I will taper again, but this time I have 7 - 10 mg methadone's, 10 mg of oxycontin, and 10 mg of vicodin. Does anybody have any ideas on how to do this with minimal problems, I have a job that I can't show up all dope sick at. Please, any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds to SWIM like you don't have enough gear for a misery-free detox, sorry to say. Best advice would be to try and dial down SWIYs habit a bit first - see if SWIY can cut back to 1/4 g per day for a week or something similar. Unless SWIY misposted, the single oxy and vicodin pill won't see you through a single day. So, SWIM'd save them for last, do the habit taper-down for a week, eat one of the methadones each day for the next week, time it all so that the day SWIY runs out is a Friday, suffer on Saturday and Sunday, and be in as good shape as possible for work on Monday. If SWIY was really smart and lucky, there'd be a 3-day weekend one could target for the worst w/ds.

Thank you uncle for the advice, it sounds like a pretty good plan. He was wondering about how to make the switch over to the methadones, whether to do the oc and vic before or after, so you helped my buddy a bunch.

SWIMs been on methadone only once, under duress, and it was a long time ago. So, variant opinions will probably be more current and perhaps more useful. However, SWIM has a pretty good memory, especially for things he viewed as oppressive.

SWIM was required to show up in withdrawal the first day, to pass the final medical exam hurdle. He drank his OJ and immediately left to get high - regular urinalysis was required, but SWIM figured the first week or so was free. They expected dirty urine at the beginning. Anyway, everything worked out es expected: the methadone did nothing, and the heroin blew SWIM's mind.

The worst thing about Methadone became clear the next day. SWIM was not dope sick in the AM, which would have been the normal case. That's the good thing about methadone. SWIM felt zero effect from the same dope that was quite powerful the previous day. SWIM doubled his dose and the same thing happened - no high.

Long story short, methadone is exactly what it's supposed to be. SWIY can avoid sickness with it, detox safely with it, and cannot get high from other opiates while on it. Once SWIM settled down, the above was a good thing. After about 6 months, SWIM had them start dropping the dose by the smallest possible amount (1.5mg?) every other week - one week to get used to the new dose, one week to level off. It worked perfectly, and in another 6 months or so, SWIM was 100% clean with absolutely zero withdrawal during the process.

SWIMs sure there are newer methods, but the methadone detox was a good deal and SWIM would go that way again if SWIhe ever decided to stop using.

Does SWIY have a constant supply of methadone? SWIM knows u said you have 7 but are you getting more? Also if SWIY are wanting to do your WD really taking the methdone will prolong SWIY withdrawals

SWIM thanks everyone again for all the advice. SWIM's down to about .15 a day right now, and will be trying to taper down and hopefully off. SWIM's been reading a lot online, and read an article stating that methadone should be tapered off of in 7-10 days, no longer or SWIM will be addicted to that instead. SWIM will be tapering to about .05 gr of H and probably switching to the methadones by saturday. He plans on using the methadones as scheduled
Day 1: 5 mg + .05 gr
Day 2: 3-4 mg
Day 3: 2.5 mg
Day 4: 1-2 mg
Day 5: 1 mg
Day 6: 0 mg
SWIM will post his reactions to the above as he starts the schedule, so far, SWIM hasn't been able to eat or drink as he jumped down from .5 - .2 in one day, but SWIM doesn't care anymore, he just wants off...

So, SWIM is moving down the taper program as scheduled, he will be out of stuff on saturday. SWIM remembers reading about how "nobody is ever able to taper" on this forum somewhere, while it is difficult, SWIM is laughing his ass off at that forum. He does remember a line in that post about how people would break their taper schedules when they had their junk laying around like that, definitely true for SWIM so far, or SWIM wouldn't be talking to his dopeman again. SWIM's dopeman definitely thinks something is up too, the past 2 times SWIM's gone down there and asked for less than usual, Dopeman seems to extend SWIM some VERY good deals and has been giving SWIM extra gear (.3 free on only .3 bought the first time) in an attempt to not lose one of Dopeman's best customers. Dopeman's being a pinche puton in Dopeman's language. SWIM is down to .1 today, and some of the finer things in life have been coming back... He finally took a shit, it had been awhile which is why SWIM is so happy, and feels sooo much lighter. So, SWIM has another question for the good people out there. Anyone else have any taper stories, SWIM's got a big week next week at work, and W/D's would be a bad thing. SWIM doesn't know anymore, whether to taper and use the methy's, or to just taper down and use a bit of oxycontin (80 mg) that SWIM scored the other day too. As usual, SWIM would be greatly appreciative of any info or stories...
