Drugs for self-change, thought-emotion control?

What are good drugs that in a controlled manner can bring long lasting changes in how you think and feel? Drugs that you largely have control of the outcome not for example large doses of psychedelics that may have good or bad results.

I read about propranolol in an old thread and how can help "erase" painful memories.

D-cycloserine can help in long term behavioral changes in anxiety disorders.

Small-medium doses of shrooms for self change?

Polygala root (chinese herb with possibly mild effects) to strengthen the conscious part of the brain "the will" of the individual and bring behavioral changes?

Any experiences or ideas for augmenting long term psychological changes through the use of drugs?

Thumbs up Re: Drugs for self-change, thought-emotion control?

SWIM has similar interests. He has tried all the conventional methods for a long-lasting depression, and something tells him that this could be an alternative way for self-healing.

SWIM is going to try 40g of San Pedro powder soon, when he feels the right time has come and after reading up a bit more on it. Mescaline (also found in Peyote) has a reputation of being a healing agent, hence the purge.

Mushrooms are tempting but SWIM doesn't have access to them, and he also feels from reports that it's a somewhat confusing voyage, perhaps inhibiting its healing properties (if any).

SWIM could try Ayahuasca which would be easy, but he feels that it might be too intense and potentially dangerous right now.

Anyway, there are way too many books and resources online about "Shamanistic Healing". If you'd like my favourites, feel free to PM.

SWIM also believes that being in good shape (exercising) and meditating can really help if SWIY chooses to heal himself in that way.

Best of luck

Re: Drugs for self-change, thought-emotion control?

I have some peculiar anxiety issues and I have done a lot of research on anxiety, through all the reading for anxiety I have find quite a few ways to improve depression with drugs. I do not have depression and I have not try any of these treatments, but from everything I have read it seemed to me that you can heal depression if you try enough things. Maybe I am wrong, but the only ways of having depression is having a deficiency in dopamine and/or seretonin and/or noradrenaline. In theory if you find a drug that correct this deficiency with not bad side-effects everything will be good, right?

Please search for the below not so conventional ways of healing depression.

Selegiline + Phenylethylamine - no side effects combo, increase all above chemicals, problems with dosing.

Stablon, limited side effects for a drug that increases seretonin.

MAOI's sure effects, special diet needed, some side effects. - Parnate

To the best of my knowledge you can post the title of a book.

Mushroom Wisdom: How Shamans Cultivate Spiritual Consciousness seems interesting. I read something like the first 50 pages in Google books and seems is good for my purposes.

What is your favorite?

SWIY can maybe buy a shroom syringe with spores and grow mushrooms himself. From my understanding spores do not have any active ingredients and are legal everywhere except California, is SWIM wrong?

Maybe you can try meditating with binaural beats, I am not sure if you have tried it, is different and more effective.

Best of luck also.
