question about dragon pursuing

Swim has smoked a lot of h but always ends up burning his stuff because he cant seem to chase properly.

What happens is, when the lighter is applied, the junk goes nowhere and refuses to run and ends up burning. Soometimes swim does it perfectly but the last 2 times I've ended up burning some.

Any suggestions where I'm going wrong?
