Length of amphetamine therapeutic effect?

Hey everyone.
This is an experience report regarding 10mg oral dextroamphetamine IR. At the bottom of the post are a few questions that SWIM would love answered!

Experience:
-Preface: SWIM has been prescribed amphetamine-like stimulants for several months now. While it has always helped him study when taken intranasally in small amounts, SWIM has decided to severely cut back on this and begin a more normal dosing method to provide more energy during the day rather than cramming at night.

SWIM's prescription cycle went something like this (from month 1 to month 7 of medicinal treatment):
  1. 15mg daily Focalin XR (dexmethylphenidate)
  2. 20mg daily Focalin XR (dexmethylphenidate)
  3. 15mg daily Adderall XR (amphetamine salts)
  4. 20mg daily Adderall XR (amphetamine salts)
  5. 15mg daily Dexedrine IR (dextroamphetamine) *5mg tabs TID
  6. *during this period SWIM took about a month break and lost much of his tolerance*
  7. 20mg daily Dexedrine IR (dextroampetamine) *10mg tabs BID
So to clarify, SWIM is currently prescribed 2x 10mg dextroamphetamine IR tablets per day. SWIM decided to record the effects of his medication while at school today.

-The Experience: Just a basic recording of the noticeable scholastic benefit of the substance follows.

t-:20 - SWIM ingests 3 Tums EX chewable tablets (2.25g calcium carbonate) prior to dosing for potentiation.
t - SWIM orally ingests one 10mg dextroamphetamine tablet on an empty stomach.
t+:20 - SWIM eats a small bowl of cereal before he leaves for class.
t+:50 - Effects beginning to manifest as slight cognitive stimulation.
t+1:30 - Peaking. SWIM is much more interested in class material than usual. SWIM has sparked conversations with a couple classmates he doesn't know (not something he normally does). Heartrate noticeably increased.
t+2:15 - Peak is declining, but positive effects still pronounced enough to be quite beneficial.
t+3:00 - And here comes the crash. Suddenly very bored with material. Feeling antsy and confined in the classroom. SWIM really wishes he would have brought his second dose...

-Reflections: Oral ingestion before class gave SWIM much more pronounced and positive effects than he expected. Perhaps this is because he recently took a break from his prescription and thus had a lower tolerance than before

-Questions:
  1. SWIM's main concern is how short the positive effects lasted. Is this normal? Indeed, they were the instant release tablets, but SWIM expected a slightly longer length of treatment. Of course everyone is different, but SWIM is interested to hear some other peoples' experiences.
  2. What would be a more effective way to dose if he is looking to extend the positive effects as long as possible? Both 10mgs at the same time? Take the second tablet right before the first crash? Further potentiation? (i.e. - caffeine)
  3. Slightly off topic, but SWIM has never really experienced a decent mood lift from amphetamines. SWIM assumes this is because the largest dose of dextroamphetamine he has ever taken was 25mg orally; and that was just so-so. SWIM is guessing that 25mg isn't enough for him to feel a considerable mood lift?

Thanks for reading!
