Drug info - Moist / Wet Amphetamine Sulphate

SWIM received some speed (ampthetamine), it is a white powder although is slightly wet.

SWIM is slightly concerned that the moisture may encourage mold/fungi

SWIM is considering chopping it as much as possible and laying it flat on some card on top of a radiator to dry it out.

Is this the right thing to do or will it have any negative effects?

Is it bad that it comes moist like that, it's not the first time I've received it that way? I once read that it means it's fresh - but I also read that it means it hasn't been synthesized correctly. Any ideas?

yohimbine: It's a dealers trick to increase weight. Weight it now and after the drying and report the change.

The dampness doesn't mean that it wasn't synthesized properly.

It could (in theory, but in practice the chances of getting (damp) amphetamine straight from the lab is close to zero) mean that it wasn't dried long enough (last step in the synthesis, details here or here)

SWIM could put it in the fridge, or freezer.
If SWIM prefers to dry it out, then he can.
Damp speed can mean two things,
Good news, strong speed is hygroscopic, and absorbs humidity in the air. It is sweatty phetty.
Bad news, some naughty sorts, wetten it, and add glucose to cut it, so their batch gets them more money.

Anyway, I know what you mean by UK speed/'base'. Not sure why it's called base as it's not freebase amphet but amphet sulphate. It always seems to come in a toothpaste like consistency ,reeking of a (seemingly non-polar) solvent i'm not familiar with.

Spread it out thin, let it dry, yes that's fine. However nothing of this earth would have grown in an amphet sulphate + np solvent mix anyway. When its dry it will smell very slightly of 'fishy' amines (surprise). Get really close to it and sniff hard lol.

@ humdriod - The word is hygroscopic, and no...sulphate is not hygroscopic, hydrochloride is but that's not what yohimbe has/had. Also, no-one cuts their amphet with glucose, because if they did...it would taste of glucose.

Base tends to be a more of a paste, can be grey or have a pinkish tinge. It used to have a higher concentration of amphetamine than the powdered form but that is debatable now, at least in the UK.

Amphetamine sulphate is hygroscopic but no where near to the extent of it's hydrochloride salt brother, the hydrochloride salt absorbs so much water from the air that it is almost impossible to crystallize. (See: http://cameochemicals.noaa.gov/chemical/19815)

Little fishy has also come across base cut with Glucose in the past and actually knows one girl who used that herself, and yes it can be tasted quite easily if cut to a high enough percentage.

Are amphetamines soluable in ethanol?

Rinse it with everclear, and then cook it off. That'll kill anything.

Swim recently obtained some amphetamine base (which swim now knows means amphetermine sulphate after reading previous posts).

Swim put this paste into the freezer, as people quite a few years ago believed it lost its potency quickly if not kept cool. Is this true? as swim has not had much experience with base.

Doubt it, amphetamine is a very stable molecule as far as I know. SWIM has had base lying around for ages (not in freezer), probably over a month, and seemed to be just fine.

SWIM once came across some slightly damp ice (strange, eh?), which turned out to be fine but of a lower quality than what SWIM was accustomed to.

Curious about the stuff SWIY came across, OP. How did it compare to other batches?
