Increased Sex Drive Day After Opium Use?
Swim has noticed that the day after opium tea use, he has an increased sex drive.
This is a great thing as Swim is 64 and notices these things more than he used to. This has happened every time Swim does the weekly tea time. The next day he wakes up with a stiff one that tells him that today is the day. His wife appreciates it and he refuses to even think about little blue pills for sex, besides, Swim hates pharmaceuticals and is why he likes his home grown O. This effect by the opium is a medical fact. Any other monkeys out there notice this effect? Maybe any "older" monkeys? Last edited by Alfa; 01-02-2009 at 16:32. Reason: restore of posts |

Re: Increased Sex Drive Day After Opium Use?
Not really older but One and others SWIMers that SWIM knows have ALL noticed this exact same thing.
Increased sexual drive the next day (as long as no opiates are used before then) is extremely common.

Re: Increased Sex Drive Day After Opium Use?
Thats funny, SWIM experiences the same thing. SWIM thought he might have some kind of hormone problem because SWIM's sex drive REALLY takes off. It is almost as if SWIM has a 3rd testicle overproducing testosterone... Never realized that it was from the O.

Re: Increased Sex Drive Day After Opium Use?
Increased sex drive is a positive therapeutic effect of what Swim would call Moderate Opium use.
The only negatives he sees with Opium use are the fact that it is illegal, it's highly addictive, it can cause death in high doses, it can cause accidents from not paying attention while zoning out. Other than those 4 things Swim thinks Opium has a lot to offer and can understand why the Pharms don't want it to be legal. It seems to have sooo many positive effects for the human condition. But, when You are dancing with Opium, be sure that You are leading. Swim can understand how the Weekend User can slip into the Daily User position but remember You have a life and too much to do to let that happen. Last edited by Alfa; 01-02-2009 at 16:28. Re: Increased Sex Drive Day After Opium Use?
Not quite so. It's a well-known side effect of the withdrawal syndrome. Opiates/oids make SWIYour willie quit working. Stopping makes it come back with a vengeance. FWIW, even if SWIYou don't have a habit and don't get dope sick, withdrawal symptoms are measurable in everyone who uses narcotics, every time they use them. This includes the one-time Vicoden-because-my-knee-hurts type along with everyone else. Women have increased dirve, men the capacity as well as increased drive.

It is a myth that one can become addicted from one use or even careful recreational use. HOWEVER, a fair number of people will use once, LOVE IT and continue to use despite the warning going off in their head that "this is wrong" and easily become addicted. This is the opiate trap that many people fall victim to and therefor the reason WHY they should be careful. There is a massive difference between measurable come-down effects (side effects) and measurable withdrawal. Withdrawal has a very specific meaning, including the body or minds DEPENDENCE on the drug, usually more specifically meaning "coming down from physical dependence" not coming down from a trip itself. The next day after smoking MJ has marked side effects (a come down of sorts) does this mean it is withdrawal? The same can be said of alcohol, benzo, psychotropics, etc . . does this also indicate withdrawal from that substance? If so then nearly everyone has been addicted to everything. Since the OP stated something about "the little blue pills" then one is going to assume he means viagra or some other erectile dysfunction medication. If in theory he had used opium and got horney the next day, this would not constitute a withdrawal symptom because there was no sexual drive to come back from to begin with. It seems rather clear in this particular case that the sexual drive has come back as a direct side effect of the opium itself (if opium was hypothetically used). For responsible use of any opiate a good amount of common sense and will power over the minds own reward system is needed. Hope this has been of help. There is a difference between withdrawal symptoms, dependence, and addiction. There are thought to be up to seventeen opioid receptors in the human brain opposed to your cited one, and no scientist in the world will make statements as emphatic and global as yours - we simply do not know enough about the brain to exhibit such certainty. What is a well known is that any person who is given a therapeutic or recreational (higher) dose of opium, morphine, and the like will exhibit measurable effects when the drug wears off. Slightly elevated BP, for example, which probably factors into the post-use increased sex drive. Anyway, that the measurable effects at cessation of use are called withdrawal symptoms does not mean that Nancy Reagan was right and that SWIyou are hooked for the fist time SWIyou drink some poppy tea or eat a Tylenol 3. It just means that SWIyou will get a very mild version of some of the things that will follow continued longer-term use. The longer SWIyou use, the stronger they get which eventually does lead to dependence, via the process of addiction. There are lots of studies in the world, and in the world of dope many of them are inconsistent with each other. That's why book learnin' should be measured against the real world experience of users. Any spiritual or metaphysical explanation of the positive effects of withdrawal syptoms are nothing but hippified smoke on the water... |

Re: Increased Sex Drive Day After Opium Use?
That is exactly right.
One sited only one receptor (the endomorphin receptors) because they are the Major receptors and the major cause in this area. Of course in a scientific circle no scientist would generalize but when talking to a layman citing a bunch of different things which may confuse would be counter productive. It is easier to explain things in simpler terms so that the majority of readers can grasp it (while still remaining accurate). Measurable side effects for certain, minor withdrawal effects? no. Would some of the measurable side effects and withdrawal effects be in similar areas or be the same? Yes, in certain areas to a degree. This can be true with alcoholism Vs alcohol poisoning though . . . . If some kid has alcohol poisoning, and has exhibited vomiting, sweating, etc . . . this does not mean he is experiencing minor withdrawal (even though these are some of the same withdrawal effects) this just means that some of the side effects from alcohol poisoning can be similar or the same as the direct effects of alcohol withdrawal. But mostly One agrees with you, sort of. Peace

Re: Increased Sex Drive Day After Opium Use?
Sounds like it to SWIM, too - where we're mainly disconnecting is definitions. FWIW, SWIM doesn't think that classic hangover symptoms are alcohol withdrawal symptoms in the small, etc. Dope is different, an undeniable fact overlooked with force by the 'recovery industry' and anyone else with a financial or philosophical incentive to paint junkies with the same brush as crackheads or alcoholics or gasoline-huffers. Anything that makes human beings high shares some empirical characteristics, anything that does so via alkaloids shares some more, but that's where the line is, and it's clear: Everyone who fools around with um/ate/oid substances will become dependent in time. Most people who drink, huff, drop, or snort do so casually and really can 'quit whenever they want', ISwimsO. Not that, for example, alcoholism isn't real. It's just quite different from addiction to narcotics.
olduncle added 3 Minutes and 9 Seconds later... EDIT - FWIW and to remain topical, pretty much every male can look forward to increased libido and ability upon cessation of this category of substances. No real need to overanalyze a gift horse's mouth... Last edited by olduncle; 14-01-2009 at 04:26. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Re: Increased Sex Drive Day After Opium Use?
SWIM has also noticed this. SWIM'S Girlfriend gets Horny as well, especially right after SWIM's Girlfriend smokes O or drinks TEA! This actually one of SWIM's favorite part of the Tea...well next to the sedating effects and the euphoria!

Re: Increased Sex Drive Day After Opium Use?
Thanks for that. Swim appreciates the personal touch of that post. Swim doesn't really need a lecture on the subject. Swim is not addicted and likes the side effect of increased sex drive with moderate opium use. No little blue pills for us swimmwers, yah?
