Re: Is this a normal w/d sympton ??

SWIM was just about to post about panic attacks when she read SWIY'S thread. She started getting them today, and she is tapering. SWIM hates this more than anything. It helps SWIM to prepare herself before going into a store or a busy environment by reminding herself that it will be busy and noisy in there. For some reason the sensory overload is too much to take in early withdrawal. Normal visual and auditory activity sends SWIM into a panic in withdrawal.

Re: Is this a normal w/d sympton ??

It took Patient X a while to get used to going out again without the blanket of opiates. First few days he had to go pop out and it was very bewildering - everything bright and noisy, a bit like a mild bad trip. On day 4 was his first visit to a busy city area, and that was very edgy although the edginess did wear off, and for several weeks afterwards, busy places were quite frightening and anxiety making at times, it was certainly an achievement to get through Christmas shopping .

It is normal - and it does get better/wear off - how long it will take is another question, but try to stay normal and keep going out - the more you can just get used to things without that OXY blanket, the easier and more "normal" things will start to get.

Re: Is this a normal w/d sympton ??

The anxiety attack is most definitely a common withdrawal symptom. Red Rock got these for about 3 weeks or so after he made up his mind that he wanted to get clean. He wouldn't even want to go out in public for fear of the anxiety attack. In his mind, he was trying to limit what could potentially trigger and cause his anxiety attacks but they still would happen while he was home.

lol INTENSE INTENSE INTENSE anxiety man. Enough to keep swim in bed all day on the first 1-2 days of WD. But YES it is normal. And the fact that you got up and went out shopping, though it doesnt seem like a big deal, shows that your doing really well man.
