Pharmacology - Codeine and Wellbutrin

Hello All,

SWIM recently has been prescribed Tylenol #3's for chronic migraines SWIM experiences. SWIM also takes Wellbutrin for an Anxiety disorder. SWIM takes several of the #3's with little effects. SWIM read somewhere that the Wellbutrin could possibly reduce the effects of the Codeine.

Questions:

What are your thoughts? Could it be the Wellbutrin that is reducing the effects? Also, what is the exact pharmacology between the two... If SWIM where to take SWIMs dose of WB in the AM would that be enough or does the Wellbutrin need to be completely out of SWIMS system (Several days) in order to get the benefts from the Codeine?

The best thing that swiy can do is ask the doctor/doctors that prescribed the med's. The doctor/doctors SHOULD be able to give swiy ALL the relevent info. that swiy needs.

The doctor prescribed #3s due to the higher chance of addiction among the alternatives.

If the Wellbutrin is also prescribed, then the doctor should be able to give swiy the answers that they seek.
If it is not prescribed, then swiy may want to "Google" Wellbutrin and see for swiself what the "side effects" and "interactions" might be.

SWIM already did the whole google thing... That is where SWIM found the information to start with. SWIM was hoping someone here had first hand experience with the two.

Most docs dont know shit about high doses of codiene and combinations, and google just brings up a load of garbage... plz be helpful next time.

If swiy rereads the 1st post, SwiGadman said nothing about taking HIGH doses of anything.

Swim is not a Dr. but the very first link brought up when Wellbutrin was "Googled" was a Wikipedia link and just a few paragraphs into the wiki said it was NOT recomended to take Wellbutrin with "painkillers".

Since swim has NO firsthand experience with Wellbutrin, but PLENTY of firsthand experience with "Painkillers" He did not feel comfortable recomending NOT mixing the 2. He did feel comfortable suggesting that swiGadman do his own search and draw his OWN conclusions. If swiGadman had even done as little as used THIS forums "search engine" he would have found 11 pages of posts on Wellbutrin.

And as far as being helpful, Swim still feels that swims reply was ALOT more helpful than "Docs dont know shit and Google brings up garbage".I mean really, the only one that reply helped was Swiyour postcount.

i take wellbutrin and while its been a long time since i've taken tylenol 3's
i constantly abuse other stronger opioids and i've found that since starting the wellbutrin it has had a noticeable effect on the opioids i take so i just take more
but thats not really an option with the #3's
acetaminophen's a bitch aint it

you might want to try asking about cold water extraction idk much about that but others on this board would be able to help with that

Or you could just tell him that the T3s are just not cutting it.Hopefully he'll prescribe you something better like vicodin (But don't mention any name to him!!, just say you want "something stronger").
