Post ketamine health and addiction

i made this account just for the sole purpose of posting this thread.
just to clarify, im not an expert or a doctor or anything but swim is a very experienced k user and i do have a small background in natural medicine.

ive seen alot of posts on here discussing "k pains" and how to deal with it.
swim has been using k on the daily for about 2.5 years now. swim's tolerance has gone up to where they need about 1.5 grams to get high and could do as much as 6-7 grams per night.

for those of you who have experienced k pain will know just how bad it hurts.
in swims experience there are 2 types of k pain; the initial heavy one, and the one that lasts for a few days afterward.

for the initial onset, the k pain swim has felt was severe abdominal pain, cold sweats, difficulty breathing and inabilty to move. when this happens, swim has noticed that drinking warm sugar water helps. (for some reason sugar kills k buzzes. even sucking on a lollipop or candy will help kill ur buzz if u had too much). lying in the fetal position seems to alieviate the abdominal pain a bit. being warm also help, maybe putting a hot pack on your stomach.

after heavy binges, in swims case is pretty much every day, you can get the k pains that last for a few days. these include the abdominal pain and urinary tract infections.
ive wondered why k would cause these things and after doing some research ive come to the conclusion that since ketamine is essentially HCl salt, it is very acidic. this will cause an inbalance in stomach acidity which can lead to peptic ulcers and urinary tract infections. the ulcers, or stomach pains can be helped with some over the counter anacids but these are only a temporary solution as the pain comes back within a few hours. pure aloe vera juice is helpful for ulcers and stomach acidity. to be honest, swim hasnt found anything that completely allieviates the pain, only help temporarily. andother thing that helps is doing more k, but that just makes the pain come back worse when the buzz wears off. drinking a full glass of water is another temporary solution as it dilutes the stomach acids. on the plus side drinking lots of water will help flush out some of the k lingering in your body. eating soft, easy to digest foods are helpful. avoid spicy foods, red meat, pop/soda and sugar.

ketamine also causes urinary tract infections or bladder infections. to help with these a simple thing you can do is drink plenty of water when you're bumping (some people dont like doing because they dont want their buzz to be interrruped by trips to the bathroom). if you happen to catch one, cranberry juice helps, or cranberry extract capsules. ive noticed that taking cranberry extract capsules dont help too much and something that worked great for swim was D-mannose. D-mannose is a type of sugar extracted from either cranberry or corn, which is very useful for cleansing the urinary tract of bacteria and infections. you can find this at any health food or vitamin retailer. avoid eating sugar as this makes urinary tract infections worse.

lastly i want to talk about the addictiveness of ketamine. some say that its not physiologically addicting, which in some cases may be true, but it is definately psychologically addictive. i believe it is one of the most addictive drugs. swim has been trying to quit k for about 3 months now, and having alot of difficulty. swim had an easier time quitting coke. this is just swim though. they started bumping ketamine due to depression, and to anyone who considers taking k to help with depression, my advice is to not do it. it may help temporarily because it helps you forget, makes you feel dissociated from the world to escape your problems, or escape yourself, but it can ruin your life when abused. 2.5 years of heavy use it has brought swim nothing good. swim is taking their first year university for the third time, relationships are fucked and swim is flat broke. do not let yourself become addicted to ketamine. it is a great substance to use for fun, it is very reflective and euphoric. just dont let it become your only source of happiness.

Re: ketamine health and addiction

Right, this is the most interesting read i've had for a long time. Swim (it takes a while but u get used to talking in a wierd manor) know several people in the same situation as you. The people that SWIM knows are heavily involved doing between 1 and 5g's a day on a more personal not how does Kim_03 take ketamine?

Im going to talk to a few people get some more info and get back to you. Swim does know that searching for something to stop the pain is just another way to carry on your addiction.

Swim does feel for you because K should be classified as ADDICTIVE!

I've seen it ruin several peoples lives and it is still only a class c drug where SWIM lives! Also, i cannot believe that the there is no test to see whether ketamine is in the body!
Sorry im just chattin away sorry im trying to solve your problems just nice to hear that someone else from the other side of the planet is seeing the S@@t that i am.

Be cool to have a proper chat i would write more but need to bump!

Ketamine is certainly psychologically addictive. Just look at he story of John Lilly (in The Scientist) or Marcia Moore.

Re: ketamine health and addiction

Swim can easily see how ketamine is mentally addictive. As Swiy said, the dissociation creates a perfect new world every time (for Swim). On one hand, Swim wants to visit these worlds free of pain and worry all the time, but on the other hand, Swim wants to save these trips "out" of life for very special occasions. Even though it is really hard sometimes, Swim opts for the latter option, and saves his ketamine for an extra special treat or rare occasion.

Too many visits to K-heaven and they will start to become boring, the novelty will wear off and they won't be as special.

Good thread.

Re: ketamine health and addiction

Karl Jansen has written a very good article about ketamine addiction. He points out that ketamine has some of the addictive properties of cocaine, alcohol, cannabis and heroin! Jansen points out that:

Quote:
When a 'K' binge stops the high levels of norketamine can take days to subside so provide a deflating cushion. An elevated mood is common, a cocaine-like swing into depression is rare.
It can leave users exhausted, however. A substance to be treated with respect.

This is a dangerous conclusion and has already been tested false by lab assistant Beaker. Even with large calcium and magnesium supplements to balance physiological PH the pains will return. Bladder PH can be tested with PH strips.

From the published literature it seems that chronic ketamine use leads to damaged epithelial cells lining the kidney, bladder and liver. It may not occur in IV/IM use, possibly since these routes take lower doses they may not reach the threshold.

It is of serious concern and warrants careful moderation of ketamine use.

Re: ketamine health and addiction

Swim has never tried the K as hes more of a herbal man but one of his friends, d, was severely addicted to k for over a year. he would easily get through a litre a week. It completely messed him up to the point where he can't stand being sober anymore. the only way he managed to kick the K habit was by inhaling butane. Swim agrees that it is definately a substance that should be treated with respect because the consequences could be catastrophic otherwise.

Re: ketamine health and addiction

Swim takes ketamine a few times a week for the past 6 months (about 4 outta 7 days and less than a gram each day)....Swim has been getting chronic UTIs for the past 3 months [at least 2-3 a month/about every other week or every 2 weeks]...Antibiotics give a temporary relief for about the week after, then it starts all over again ....Are there any medications to completely stop these UTIs that are obviously caused from the ket use.

Reading in previous threads swim sees that it could be possible severe bladder damage or just continuously returning urinary infections. The doctor just keeps treating me for UTIs but *is there anyway to rid them forever?*.....without 100% giving up the ket?????

Re: ketamine health and addiction

as a reply to miss vixen, i mentioned in my post D-Mannose works very well.
i have 500mg capsules and take 3 per dose, 3 times daily. this is when i have a UTI.
if you are taking D-Mannose as a preventative for UTI's then you can use 2 capsules, 3 times daily.
this is only my recommendation, i am not an expert, but i do work with natural products every day.
give it a try =P

I reply to this thread just because searching the web for information about how to care stomac pain cause by abusive usage of ketamine is hard to find...

For myself and friends who are very very very very big user of ketamine the only things who can help stopping those stomac pain and urinary problems are:

- Drink a lot of water to prevent dehydratation and help urinary problems

- Hot bath for stomac pain can help

- Drinking hot water with sugar or with a little bit of baking soda

- Dycholium 300mg pills (Pills sold in drugstore) they really help me when this horrible stomac pain is coming. Ill take 1 or 2 and then 10-15 minutes after the pain is gone. Not working for everybody.

I wish this post can help somebody somewhere because this kind of pain is really not fun and I know what im talking about....

Re: ketamine health and addiction

SWIM has been using Ketamine for about 6 years now. Very heavily for the past 2 or 3.

Luckily, he hasn't yet had any major physical problems (mental problems are another matter).

The following advise to stop stomach pains and urinary infections is based on his own experience and nothing more:

- Drink plenty of water, regulary.
- If you need to go to the toilet, do so! Don't hold it in.
- Apple juice may help stop problems occuring.
- Eat plenty of food. Don't go without eating just because K supresses hunger.
- If you start to get stomach pains, stop taking for as long as possible.
- Spit out any chemical drip.

Re: ketamine health and addiction

SWIM was a heroin addict for 5 years and was IVing for 3 of those and has been through many painfull situations on his quest to quit it,but he managed after all and now he is 8.5 years of being heroin clean, although SWIM still does drugs(but never heroin again) knows how to avoid highly addictive situations because he knows that the sorrow that they bring is simply not worth it, SWIM enjoys the casual use of any drug(especialy ket) more than anything, drugs seem to be as strong(depending how clean they are really) each time he does them and as enjoyable as the last. theres nothing worst than being hooked on something chemical!! i wish good strength to anyone thats trying to fight their demons!!
