Nah, i can do it in a week or two with some chicken soup from granny

I speaking on behalf of me SWIM
Just for da record

Quote:
Want to know what I’m going to expect when giving up. Been injecting meth daily for about 3 years now with no break, once or twice I did 3 days without. I have small idea whats coming, but it would be good to hear it from experience rather than a government funded booklet with wrong info in it.
I will tell what I think is to expect.
Day 1, nothing
Day 2, or about 12 hours. SYMPTOM 1; I get like electric shocks in my brain or maybe it’s like my brain turns off and on again. does not hurt and it only lasts for about 2 seconds (I do experience these when I don’t have any for about 8-12 hours or the quality is week) These brain freezes I shall call them are intermittent, they range from every 20 min to every 2 hours. And they can happen twice in 5 min. while I said they don’t hurt I know that it’s causing damage to my brain. SYMPTOM 2 towards the end of Day 2; I start to get very very tied. I mean I can fall asleep standing up (and have done before. you just wake up rapidly as your body starts to relax and falling to the ground) now I know this is to do with my 3 yrs of missed sleep. I only sleep about two nights a week. I did a quick calculate and 8 hours a night for 3 years is 8736 hours sleep (normal person) me only 2496 hours sleep. That’s 6240 hours missing. One would think all those extra hours I would be totally organised. But no, un-organised is what’s a better description.
Day 3, SYMPTOM 3; I wake up to the most horrible dreams that seem so real. They are always either your fighting to survive or very confrontational towards your life, family. Not really nightmares because they are usually real possible things that can happen in life. Not fiction or Freddy corugar style.
Then during day SYMPTOMS 1 & 2 repeated.
Day 4, Never experienced Day 4 without it
All I know is at this point I will be $400 - $800 richer, Meth is so bloody expensive…

SWIM thinks SWIY will most likely experience the following:

-Sleeping for at least 16 hours a day the first week or so, so extreme fatigue
-Depression, irratibility and everything you might expect along those lines
-Nightmares of sorts
-Seeking out supplements to the addiction such as cigarettes (they help, trust SWIM)
-SWIY will get very hungry
-Anxiety
-Hallucinations

Theses are just some of the happier symptoms. Like stated, SWIM suggests smoking cigarettes during this time frame anytime you feel a flood coming. It might take SWIY awhile to react to normal things that fire off endorphins such as sex or cigarettes. SWIYs sensors are most likely shot but they will recover eventually.

Good luck and prepare for some rough, but equally worth it, times. It wont be as bad or as long as SWIY things.

For swim, the first day without meth, was feelin really tired, with high anxiety,...towards end of first day and for the next 4 days or so, almost nothing but sleep,...a generalized crappy feeling almost like a flu,...it actually took effort to get up to use the bathroom,....swim had planned ahead for this,..had a good supply of bottled water, some soups, and a liquid meal replacement formula stuff because swim knew he'd be too burnt out to even maintain a decent diet......Wouldnt call it an electrical buzz,...but for 2 to 3 weeks there was a messed up feelin goin on in swim's head,...like an overblown case of ADHD, thoughts bouncing, concentrating almost felt as if it was painful....not really sure how to describe it. Swim used the mind numbing effects of watching TV when not sleeping to settle the mind ,...Movies, comedies seemed to help the most,....finding pleasure or anything other than a paralyzing depression was the biggest issue......For swim, it was probably around 3 months that swim never thought things would get better,....some anti'd's prescribed by doc helped some,.....life got to be .....just ok for the most part,..some mad cravings for several days every 3 months or so....depression was a constant issue, anger was something that came to the forefront often,.......Not using again was something that would be an emotional battle at a minimum, several times a month.

For swim, and many other methheads ( addicts whose DOC was METH, and in a major way!! and for a long period of time) in recovery have found,...it's over a year before life begins to really come close to feeling "normal" ..Somewhere past the 2 year mark is when it seems meth finally begins to lose it's grip. For swim, after a year and a half, life was good again, but the cravings would pop up from time to time,...Bad enough if Swim hadn't left everyone and everything from the "meth days" behind by 2500 miles,....swim wouldnt be saying he's 3 years since any meth use,...would be 4 but there was a slight "ooops" of cockiness in swims attitude at his 1 year anniversary....swin just happened to be back in his old stompin grounds at that date.

Just as swiy didnt get to the point of swiy's addiction overnight, Ya can't expect to just stop using and simply "wait" for life to get better. Find a way to take all that effort it took to get meth and use it up,...all that wasted effort while high,.....instead work towards being a health fanatic....vitamins, diet, supplements, exercise....all help towards repairing, rebuilding a lot of what was burned out, used up, wasted away.....It's worth the effort, life can be, and is better without meth, but it doesn't just happen by no longer using....JMHO. best wishes
